I have seen the latest snapshot on YouTube and saw the part about new things added to the cats. The addition that cats will bring you items randomly after the player sleeps is awesome. Here is an idea to make it look better. When the player sleeps and a cat is on the bed, when it is morning, the cat will be holding one of the items in its mouth and drop it in front of the player. This is a new animation for that feature with Cats.
Also, here are some more things that can be changed with cats (new animations and features):
- 'Ability to pet cats animation' (aka: pat them on head, tail, body etc and pat bellies). This is a new animation to be able to pet cats. Noticeable purring from the cat/s should be heard when petting. The player can also pet multiple cats at once and cats will rub their heads against the player's body. The player can also sit down or kneel down to pet their cats. Petting untamed cats will raise the cat's trust in you (and will have the same animation). Tamed cats will also rub their heads and bodies on their owner and the player will either sit down or kneel while they do so.
- 'Feeding' Animations: When feeding cats, the hearts system should be updated. Before the hearts are present, there should be a feeding animation. When eating fish, cats should lie down and eat until the fish is consumed, then show hearts and go into the sitting position (a bone should also be present on the ground from the fish after the cat eats). Feeding untamed cats will have the same animation as feeding pet cats, with an exception (since the cat doesn't know to trust you or not). Cats will also eat fish that are on the ground or dropped by the player. Cats will also follow the player if they are holding a fish and walking or running.
- New cat breeding animations: (As of now, I am unsure of what exactly the animation will be, so this will be up to Mojang unless edited by myself.) Since the feeding animation of cats has been changed, breeding animations should too. Cats shouldn't just run/walk into each other like they're play jousting. A new animation should be added (although given, I am clueless as to what it should be) to make it look realistic and new, but not THAT realistic!
- Cats can play with string' animation: Cats should be able to play with string. When right-clicking on cats or dropping string on or around them, the cat should lay on their belly or on their back and play with it as real-life cats do. Dropping or right-clicking with string on untamed cats should increase the cat's trust in you.
- Cats groom themselves: Cats will randomly groom/clean themselves, like cats in real life do. This will also be an animation.
All of these ideas will make cats more realistic as in real life. I hope this is added.
