Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Wooden Variants for Chests and Barrels (with pictures)

Similiarly to doors, different wood types should create unique looking chests while still having the same function. Barrels would only defer in color- not design. Below is some clipart for the general look.

 

Dark Oak: Shipwrecks, buried treasure, and underwater ruins would generate with these chests instead of the standard ones. They are fit for a pirate theme.

Spruce: Since these chest fit well with medieval builds, they could spawn in dungeons, strongholds, and possibly even woodland mansions.

 

Birch: There would obviosuly be a top and the spaces would be covered. This crate style chest would be best for modern builds.

Oak: The design for an oak chest is very similiar to the current chest texture,


 

Acacia: The lock in the clipart is not part of the chest design.

 

Jungle: I couldn't find any reference pictures for jungle wood, but you get the point.

    Maybe adding a stone chest with more storage in it? and i love the idea of it to be honest. with my hardcore play through I'm getting a little bored of the same chest design each time i place a chest anywhere due to the different designs in the different design of rooms

    Please Mojang...I am so sick of looking at the same old boring chest. Surely with all the different woods (and stone variants) available we can have different wood/stone chests. It would help immensely with sorting items into different chests. It would also vastly improve the visual aesthetic of storage warehouses etc...

    Good idea, and now that 1.16 snapshots are out maybe warped/crimson variants too

    Also different types of wooden tools would be cool

    Yeah, I think it's about time we get wood chest variants. Plus mike78504 I agree, it's also about time that the desert, desert oasis, red deserts or oasis biomes, get a new wood type, (Not one that is fictional like crimson and warped trees). Like Palm trees (Palm trees can have dark tan trunks, white-ish tan planks.) Maple trees (Another tree that you can find bee hives on (And the Maple Tree trunk can be a reddish brown, and the planks can be a red magenta color). Please consider this. I think it's time for chests to get an update, lol.

    Barrels are what I hope to see a change with. Barrels might work if decorating with cabinets/a kitchen, but why should they all have to be the same color? The color should definitely correspond with the wood used for barrels and chests.

    Villages should have chests of the correct type of wood.

    The default chest would become an oak chest.

    There should also be chests for Crimson and Warped Wood.

    There should also be variants for Trap Chests.

    I love these different design ideas! I think it would be cool if they could be made using a wood cutter rather than just the different designs, for variation!
