These are mobs which I suggested in my Ultimate Mining Update Suggestion.
Kobolds are mobs which would add a new unique cave-based enemy to the game, and add to the ambience and difficulty of Mining in the game.

Alignment:

Neutral [Provoked when you hit them or if place a light source near them while in Rest Mode]

Look:
-
They look like Bats which are the size of the player, have man-like legs, glowing red eyes, and are often crawling when aggroed.

They can also stretch their necks to do attacks.

While dormant, and neutral, they will stalk the player with their creepy red eyes from the darkness, making soft breathing sounds, but when aggroed or hostile, they will make loud shrieks and screeches.

AI:

Normally Kobolds cling to the ceiling of a dark area, and will creepily stare at you with their flowing red eyes.

This means that if you are in a Cave, you may see them in the ceiling of the Caves staring at you. They will not attack the player unless they are directly damaged by the player, or if the player places a light source near them.

They will occasionally move from place to place to other dark areas.

Flight Mode:
-
During Flight Mode they will fly up places in order to reach the same elevation as the player.

During Flight Mode they will do swooping flight attacks similar to that of a Phantom, only faster, dealing 2.5 hearts of damage.

Walking Mode:
-
During Walking Mode, which is more common than Flight Mode, Kobolds will make a crawling in the ground animation.

During Walking Mode they can cling to walls as Shulkers do in order to reach players.

During Walking Mode they can do a Screeching Attack, which will knock players back and brainwash nearby bats to become aggroed, dealing 1 heart of damage per attack.

They will also do an attack in which they stretch their necks to bite players, similar to Pillager Beasts only their necks are longer and thinner.

Spawning:
-
Spawn in dark areas under level 50 in Caves.

Can also spawn in Roofed Forest Biomes.

Attacks:
-
Screech: They do this attack uncommonly. This Screech will knock players back, and aggro Bats. Turning them against the player, dealing only 2 DMG (1 heart.)

Flight Bite: They will swoop onto you, dealing 5 DMG (2.5 Hearts) The animation is similar to that of a Phantom, only they are faster.

Extended Neck Bite: Their necks will stretch (similar to a Pillager Beast, only longer and thinner) and they will bite you dealing 8 DMG (4 hearts)

30 HP (15 Hearts)

8 DMG (4 Hearts) Bite

5 DMG (2.5 hearts) Swooping Attack

2 DMG (1 heart) Brainwashed Bat Bites.

Fun Facts:
-
They are scared of Cats, but will still attack players if provoked even if a cat is near them.

They eat Silverfish, stretching their necks to grab them with their mouths, with a unique animation similar to the Pandas.

I don't know if there should be a unique drop, I think the XP is worth the treasure.

Due to their difficulty, players would have to be wary when exploring caves.
