Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Zip-Line / Grappling Hook

I see there are similar ideas for this but nothing quite the same.

My idea is to craft a sticky arrow with string and a slime ball that can be fired from the cross bow and used as a grappling hook or zip line.

The items are single use but when attached to a block, the player can climb up and down the rope using jump and crouch. Players can interact with tools and inventories while grappled so it can be used for mining items in the ceiling of caves or the nether, or for breaking end crystals in The End Arena.

    It appears there is already an existing thread on this topic (or something very similar). Feel free to join that discussion in progress regarding the grappling hook.

    Cutting down on duplicate threads or threads with very similar ideas will allow relevant threads and ideas to stay together so they can receive the attention they deserve from our developers. (Specifically the grappling hook part here.)

    I think ur right because sprinting make u lose hunger and the grapple won’t

    I'm a big, BIG nerd for all thing Zelda and I would LOVE to see if a hookshot of some sort was put into the game, maybe call it a grapple gun though, for copyright reasons

    Can you please remove the Zip line part ? i'm trying to do a in deph post about zip line but i can´t because you mentioned zip line here and this post is 90% about grappiling hook.

    Grappling hooks would be so fun to use, especially for zip lining. This could help with transporting items and creating fun maps too!

    I think that if minecraft had grapples it would greatly up mobility and improve the experience.

    it could also be fun to have a new item along with it, a chest with a hook attached so you can slide your items to the bottom of the zip line or down the rope so the chest and all of your items will remain intact for later retrieval in the cave or mountain.

    Having zip lines and grappling hooks would be absolutely amazing! Imagine setting up zip line access points all over a cliff base to zip up and down to higher or lower area in a flash. You can add a redstone powered pulley system to crank you up a zip line to a higher location, or use the grappling hook to create a new upward line. The grappling hook should have a limit to its distance, say 10-20 blocks, which would require you to build connection areas. Perhaps add anchors or a type of belay system that would be needed to set up the connection area to extend the zip lines over greater distances. This would be incredibly fun while exhilarating because of the fall chance. This idea is a must!

    I think instead of making it craftable, it should be a unique type of loot within the Ancient City. This makes sense because caves and mountains would be a lot easier to navigate with grappling hooks.
