Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Paper Lanterns!

Currently Minecraft only has one way of celebration: Fireworks.
The introduction of Paper Lanterns would not only change that, but also add so many new options for lighting!

Paper Lanterns can be placed similar to pillars, which adds a lot of options for them.

They can also be clicked on by flint and steel or activated by redstone to send them hovering up into the sky! (Hovering lanterns could potentially "distract" hostile mobs)

Use dispensers to make a really pretty display!
Paper Lanterns could also replace lighting in villages! (This would be ideal since the come in the different wood types and they are an earily-game light block) Perhaps villages could even host Lantern festivals once in a while!

    I love this idea , i think this need to be added to the game because this would help really for a lot of building style like medieval , asian , modern and more it would allow so much more building possibilities and fit the update with the bamboo and the panda.

    This is an amazing idea. I was thinking about making a post on paper lanterns that shared the same textures and were dye-able but your post fits the general theme of the game much better. I really hope this gets implemented.
