Shadows are different between editions. I don't have a strong opinion on which type is better, just that they be made the same.
Java:
When standing on a ledge, shadows snap to the lower block.
Shadows decrease in opacity with increased height.
Shadows are only cast on blocks.
Shadows are antialiased perfect circles.
Bedrock:
When standing on a ledge, shadows slope down the side of the block face.
Shadows decrease in radius with increased height.
Shadows can be cast on entities as well as blocks.
Shadows are 13-sided polygons.
