Banners on boats

 Boats feel a bit bare even with the new animation and model so

What about being able to add custom banners as a sort of sail?

    Definitely like this idea. You could make little Pirate Ships and have skeletons stuck in them. The speed boost would also be good.

    @StagmanOG Exactly what I was thinking too in regards to doing aesthetics!
    On a side note the only thing I'd wonder about is the placement of it since I wonder if it would get too crowded if it were in the center considering the boat is big enough for 2.

    Perhaps they make a new boat for four, including a banner sail. This is so the banner sail will fit.

    What about an interface for boats where you could put banner sails, shields on the sides, and a mounted dispenser on the front of the boat.

    I'll add this to your suggestion you can either craft or right click on boats with banner to make them sail and go faster how ever only 1 person can sail at the time

    We should be able to build on top of the boats to an extent to make a custom, movable boat. Kinda like in arc where you can build your boat how you want.

    How bout, vertical banners. Flags.
    (Just a little suggestion) Depending on the design is how mobs interact with you. Ex: Skull flag means you are hostile.
    Creeper means neutral. Mojang Flag is peaceful.

    The idea of people identifying random strangers based on the banner on the boat they're rowing sounds quite fun, not gonna lie. Definitely should be in the game, along with a previously suggested concept of being able to expand boats.

    I came to the forums to suggest this, but I'm glad to see it's already been suggested.

    Crafting a custom banner together with a boat should make a "Boat with Sail" (or maybe "Flagship"). It could go slightly faster, but as a drawback it can't fit a second person. That seems rather reasonable to me considering the Boat with Chest comes with a similar drawback.

    So I’ve read all the comments so far, and from what I’ve seen it would be a good idea to have a banner being place able on the back of two person boats and in the middle of new four person boats, providing a speed boost. you could also add shield to the sides for a little extra durability and visual appeal. this could all be part of a big ocean themed update
