Solving AFK fishing

Many people (me included) think that AFK fishing isn't a fair thing. I guess Mojang team agrees with these people, as you have tried different times to fix it.
I think I have the final simplest solution:
If using a fishing rod required stamina, there would be no AFKing possible.

    It already does and the AFK fishing glitch was patched.

    @RobotZap10000 Which version and/or platform are you talking about? I see people on last Java updates who do AFK fishing.

    I don't see how this is an issue, it's the only way I can afk by my farms in my minecraft realm.

    Is there really a question on how to stop afk-fishing? How about the mojang team makes it so that fishing does NOT give any xp at all? BOOM! AFK fishing is no more

    I think it's just worth changing the interaction with the gates and fishing rods at the control level so that the long press simply does not work.
