Right now, all the moon does in the sky is change phases, without moving in the sky or serving any real function besides looking pretty. I have some changes I feel should be made.
- Moonlight. Moonlight be a natural source of light for the nighttime. During a full moon, the light in the sky should be equivalent to the night sky at Bright brightness (which most people play on), whereas a new moon should be equivalent to the night at Moody.
- Improved Phases. The Moon should move as it goes through its phases; a full moon will be directly behind the sun, gibbous 3/4 behind, half-moons half, and crescent moons quarter. Thus, the moon may be visible in the morning sky, with nothing to light up the night. This means more hostile mobs will spawn, and you will need more torches to keep them away.
- Eclipses. Every 28 Minecraft days, there should be a Lunar Eclipse, in which the moon turns a blood red. Partial Solar Eclipses can lower the light level negligibly, and are half as common as Lunar Eclipses. Total Solar Eclipses are much rarer, occurring every 364 Minecraft days, and will lower the light level to slightly above that of a full moon. Endermen spawn more frequently during eclipses, making them ample times to get some of those precious Ender Pearls.
