Wolves will howl during a full moon

Wolves should tilt their heads up and howl during a full moon because it would be a nice touch to the game BUT howling can also be useful too. Wolves should also howl if they are very injured and/or are sat down very very far away from it's owner. This could help players find their lost dog or find their way home if they have gone off on a big adventure. The howl sound effect is in or used to be in the game so this would not be a very big feature to put in Minecraft.

    There is a wolf howl sound, however it is unused so instead bring the sound back and add on to the wolf

    i think the sound effect is > /playsound entity.wolf.howl ambient @a < so use that command in creative to hear wolf howl

    Maybe the sound effect would also be passive ambiance in the biomes that can have wolves, wouldn't that be a nice way to provide some ominous atmosphere to the surface at nighttime.

    It would be so easy to just apply the wolf howl into the game rather than leaving it in an unused state.

    Yes just the sound in biomes that can contain wolves.

    There is a way to tell if they are injured.

    Look for a droopy tail.

    This is a perfect way to go about implementing that unused howling sound! I also feel it would provide a nice little wake up call for toughened players who want to go hunt toughened monsters that spawn during the full moon. Like armored undead, and slime.

    Cuz it's a hard enough to find wolves now so if we had a howl only on full moons would we know if they're close to us or not

    Good idea, that way you can easily tell if your wolf is hurt or not without having to check the tail

    Maybe Mojang can record real wolves this time, like how they recorded actual pandas.

    I think this is a great idea, but also, the moon should do phases, making the occasion rare, but also, maybe if you're in a certain radius of the howl, it acts as a beacon for a minute or two and gives you a new effect called Lunar hunger. This gives you better speed and jumping, but if you don't kill 1-3 things before the effect ends, your dog will attack you until you have 3 hearts left. This could be a feature that can be toggled via command, and would really spice up the game.
