I got this idea from the obsidian walls that used to be around during the old days of Minecraft. Maybe in most biomes, random walls (sort of like nether fortresses in the over-world) could spawn randomly with a large span of appearances.
Some could be fully constructed, while others a withered. Some may be built out of different blocks, ranging from cobblestone to red sandstone (biome dependent). Length can range from as low as 20 blocks to a couple hundred. Some may be hollowed, others some might not. Could be only a couple blocks high or up to 15. The walls could go multiple directions, allowing them to be followed even more. Chests found on/in the walls should be rare.... And the loot would usually only compile of food, building materials and stone or iron materials/tools. Other loot could be biome exclusive, like gold can only be found in Mesas and coal in Mountainous biomes.
I really think this idea would make Minecraft really cool to explore... bringing back the awe players used to have when finding strange things they never seen before.
