Scarab Beetles in the Desert

This may be far fetched, but there should be a chance when you break sand in a desert, a scarab beetle could come out and attack the player. It would be similar to silver fish, but multple come out of one block and surround the player. Another difference from silver fish is they could fly, although this might be rare. They would also be smaller than silver fish making them hard to hit. Spiders and scarabs would fight. They also would be able to burrow themselves back into sand, with a similar animation to turtles laying eggs. I feel this might make the desert feel more alive. Since right now the husk is one of the only desert only mob.

    Sounds pretty good. However, I have a couple of questions.

    1. What would they drop upon death?
    2. Could they also spawn in mesas?
    3. How would you know when a scarab beetle is inside a sand block?
    4. What kinds of status effects could they inflict on the player?

    I think Scarab Beetles could be more like there Egyptian Counterparts that could maybe drop Gold or some rare valuable item. Maybe they could even be tamed themselves with some sort of benefit wealth related. (Kinda taking ideas from Spelunky). I want something a little more interesting than another silverfish
