A simplified quest system that updates based on player progression of tasks for npcs.
A tab could be added beside the inventory with viewable tasks and tracking system.
Tasks could be set by map builders with dialogue between npcs, custom written books without complex command writing. Dialogue could be based on a factor tree method with npcs and custom written by map builders. Npc: 'will you find me 10 apples from the forest?' you: 'yes or no' npc: 'why wont you help me?' or 'you will!? Great! Come back with 10 apples and ill reward you for your efforts!'
This gives depth to adventure maps. The quest tab can have simple sub tabs of 'in progress' and 'completed'.
If this simple feature was added without having to use mods (I play on xbox one) my maps would have stories and depth without having to write a million signs or a million commands to an adventure role playing map.
