Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

padlock and key

  • lockable chests (lock as element and key too) and is found as a treasure in the temples where you get to it with a map
  • * The padlock is used not only for chests, but also for doors, traps, shulker boxes and everything that can be included with the command

/ blockdata ~ ~ -1 ~ {Lock: "Key"}
and stop using that command and have to change to creative every time. if you can have it in survival as an element found in chests.

    Maybe.  All keys should look the same, but can be named with an item tag.  They would be crafted with two gold nuggets.

    Padlocks would be only found locked on chests in dungeons and temples.  They would be uncraftable, and only obtainable through dungeons and temples, found on chests and not in them.  They should be breakable with any type of pickaxe.  When placed on a chest/door, a place to type a name would pop up (similar to a sign).  Once a padlock is named, it would take a key with that name to unlock it.  A padlock would be visible on the door/chest.

    The door/chest could only be opened while holding the key with the right name.

    Bad idea:  They could be placed on shulkers, preventing them from opening and shooting.  The key would allow them to shoot, or prevent them from shooting if they are already unlocked and closed.

    But... If you can break them with only a pickaxe, what would be the use of them? Maybe it is only possible with an iron pickaxe

    What I mean by having them breakable with an pickaxe is that there must be some way to remove them from whatever they’re on.

    Maybe there's an actual unique key item, that can lock doors and trapdoors as well as containers.
