Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

This would be a good fit for people with little storage.

Charcoal need a block on their own like the rest, don't know why they didn't add one, make it look different and look like burned wood, and also used for decorations or make a charcoal forest biomes

How about it using the coal block texture, but colored like charcoal.

bad concept. blocks are the only advantage that coal has over charcoal.
if charcoal could be crafted into blocks there would be no reason to mine coal apart from in small amounts while mining to craft torches... and ignore coal.

not a good change for the most abundant ore in the game

@Wolf Shroom, Whoa relax, charcoal blocks would not make coal useless. In my experience when you going mining you already tons and tons of coal that you don't even think to need, however, cutting down a lot of trees just to burn them into charcoal seems overly tedious. I would rather mine for coal than cut down logs and waste them for charcoal. But, charcoal blocks would be great if you cut trees down a lot and I don't think it really makes coal useless.

I like it, but coal itself might have to be slightly more powerful, instead of coal cooking the same amount maybe can be raised form 80 to 90? and normal 8 per coal to 10?

I use a datapack that allows me to auto-chop trees so I have a TON of wood. So I use charcoal as my primary fuel source and I was thinking about this and I think it would be a great idea. I searched it up, and now I found you :D. I hope this idea gets seen by the developers because I would love to see it in game.

With COP26 in process and having to explain sustainability to my young daughter, blocks of charcoal would be a real help.  From a sustainable energy point of view, it makes more sense to use Charcoal than Coal, but this is obviously limited by storage restrictions.

its a good idea, but i think that it should also be able to be created by actually burning wooden blocks, to make it more realistic, like when a building burns the actual fire source burns away, but the wood around it chars and turns into charcoal, or alternatively when you put out a fire, the block the fire is on turns to charcoal block

I agree, I have so much charcoal I can't carry it all! Block of Charcoal would be a big help.

Good idea, because I would like to have a Block of Charcoal (for another fuel source and more), also it would be fun a challenge that only use charcoal instead of coal.

It could also be used as decoration, building and creative stuff as well other uses, have a brownish black colour with bit of Amber colour in it as well, can build a burned forest with the block, for fuel and so on, so yeah

16 logs = 64 planks. As fuel, 64 planks = 96 smelted items. If those are logs that's 96 charcoal. Add 3 more and you have 99, which could become 11 blocks. Those 11 blocks = 880 smelted items. As long as you use logs for some of it, you have a more productive infinite fuel source than before. Screw lava buckets!

    This is a logical addition.

While I hear the concern about taking away advantages from coal, please do remember that coal has a second advantage: villager trading!

I would like to see charcoal and coal reach parity from a recipe standpoint, and the logical corollary of this is to introduce a charcoal block.

This would indeed be very nice to have. Blocks of Charcoal could be used for storage and/or decoration.
