I think deeper lakes is an excellent idea so long as there are things to inhabit and grow in or around them (fresh water fish, cattails, reeds, crustaceans, etc.).
Oh yeah, that would look much better
Yea seriously. Lakes in Minecraft are very shallow compared to lakes in real life. Heck oceans are shallow in Minecraft compared to real life lakes. Just look at a lake like Lake Michigan it is 85 meters deep with a max depth of 281 meters, that's pathetic compared to Minecrafts 30 meter max depth oceans and yea the puny 1 meter deep lakes.

We have rivers as biomes, we should have lake biomes as well.
In bedrock I find strange lakes that are almost underground. Those lakes should be far underground instead of 1 block under the surface.
That isn't necessarily true, there are plenty of already great looking lakes that are far more than one block deep. Open up a world and fly around a bit and I'm sure you will see one.
Maybe with new fish mobs as well. Saltwater fish mobs in oceans, freshwater fish in lakes? You could even make the salmon migrate.
Yup. We need a lake BIOME.
I think the occasional lake or clearing in a forest biome of varying sizes would be just frequent and varied enough to be a welcome addition.
the lakes need fish
Yes, that would be really nice, and make them much MUCH wider too please. I think it would be cool for them to be much wider and a lot deeper. Give them a design to resemble a real lake. I imagine that they would be much rarer though.
You know, very rarely you can find large, deep, lakes, but most of the time they are just ponds.
Good idea this would make the minecraft world look more realistic
This would be a great addition to the game! And with the thing about salmon migrating, it's ok for Mojang to add stuff that can be difficult to code into the game; they're game developers working on a game that's getting popular again really quickly. They shouldn't just add simple things because advanced game mechanics are what make a game interesting.
Yeah.
No more ponds too (especially in deserts)!
We need big 100 block wide and 10 block deep lakes.
We also need rivers that have height rises and deviations.
I absolutely love the idea of REAL lakes in Minecraft. To go along with it mojang could add a whole plethora of fresh water mobs or plants. To add on further villages could have their docks out looking the lake or even have a village spawn at every lake and make lakes rarer.
Yes please. I live by a lake currently and I can attest to just how bland they are. They need to be deeper with actual fish and aquatic foliage and all those other bells and whistles. Essentially, if it’s in a river, why is it not in a lake? The most interesting thing about lakes currently is clay deposits. :/
If they make lakes can we have a super rare lake monster boss as well? Anyone ever wanted to fight Nessie?
Currently, lakes in the game are more akin to potholes and often interrupt exploration. Making them larger and/or giving them a form of plant in its surroundings would make them more visible and avoidable, thus less annoying
Lakes but with like brownish water and catfish
I saw a post of someone filling the ponds in a plains biome and then making one large lake to replace them. It looked so much better and if Mojang does replace those little ponds, maybe i'll stop getting stuck inside them when i'm riding my horse around. Good idea.
With Fish and Seagrass, with an occasional Lily Pad inside them as well.
maybe have a rare floated village on the bottom of the lake!
Instead of a bunch of small pools, that are unusually surprise holes you drop into with a little water at the bottom in plains it would be great to see actual lakes, ranging approx 15-40 blocks across, that could be up to around 10 or so blocks deep, have a few lily pads, a chance of fish.
This would make plains look much better and mean players spend less time filling random water holes dotted everywhere and could instead build beside a pretty lake.I love this idea! This would also mean deeper oceans though. Additionally, we will need mud, freshwater fish, reeds (Not sugarcane or seagrass), pebbles, and smaller freshwater turtles! This could be a sub-update between major updates. Kind of like the bees and bugs. (yeah, I know its a major update but it's not really)
