Why the hell is Minecraft : Education Edition available for Chromebooks, but not the official Minecraft. You've gotta be kidding me Mojang. Y'all in development are insane if you think the MC community is gonna accept that.

Congratulations on bringing Minecraft : Education Edition to Chromebook.  This is a great step forward for the kids who have teachers supporting STEM learning by using this game.  Unfortunately not all of them do and some of us need to do this with kids and grandkids at home.  I am one of those grandparents who support this at home while the school does not.  I neither have a school edition login nor do we have the ability to run the game on the most convenient equipment I have- my chromebook.  This leaves my switch (BUGGY) and my old laptop, which has connectivity issues (not your problem).

I have continued to believe that, if the game will run on a phone, it should be able to run on Chrome OS.  The release of Education Edition supports that theory.

Please support the rest of us.

    Thanks.

    Hi Mojang-Team,

as Chromebooks get more and more popular, i'd urge you to make Minecraft Bedrock available for them again. It used to be possible to install Minecraft on Chromebooks directly from the Google Play Store. I suspect there's no technical reason as it would easily run on Chromebooks - so give yourself a push and make it available again!

I would like it to come to Chromebook cause I recently bought a new Chromebook because my desktop computer stopped working and was hoping to be able to play Minecraft Bedrock cause Chromebooks support android apps but I was furious to find out that when I went to the Google Play Store, it wasn't there!

A dedicated Chromebook version would really be appreciated. My girlfriend just bought a Chromebook and I was sad to learn the Android version isn't officially available on Chromebooks. According to some posts on the internet, sideloading the Android version works fine, so I assume making a dedicated Chromebook version would be a low effort project. The release of the Education Edition of Minecraft makes this even more likely.

I would like to see Minecraft on the chromebook because it's a very good game and plus Mojang could make a lot of money from making it $20 on chromebooks because a lot of people love Minecraft.

It’s really silly that Minecraft doesn’t work but Education Edition does. It kind of feels like one of those boardroom type decisions where management says something like “oh well all the chromebooks are used by kids and managed by the schools anyway so let’s remove normal minecraft and force them all to use the education edition.” And an employee in the back of the room says “well actually sir quite a few grownups use chrome books and actually some parents buy nicer ones for their kids because the school ones are cheap and some parents just want their kids to have that instead of a windows laptop. We can always allow school administrators to block the normal version if they so choose.” And then the manager replies “you are over complicating this, just take minecraft off the store and force them to use the education edition.”

It really makes no sense. Minecraft and Google need to get together and fix this. It’s really a missed opportunity.
