    I do have to agree: Bacon is awesome.  It is well known that Bacon makes ANYTHING better.  So I'm sure that just having it in Minecraft would give it the salty savory taste it needs.

    However, we already have Porkchops.

    How about:  There are rare protein items you get by only doing certain challenges.  To obtain Bacon you need to shoot a Pig in the Nether with a Fire Resistance arrow AS it is falling.  Not only would this be ridiculously complicated, but it would push Redstoners to come up with crazy machines if they want stacks of bacon.

    When a player killed a pig, besides raw porkchops, it drops some raw bacon and restores 1 hunger point when eaten (2 hunger points if cooked). Just like dried kelp, it can be eaten quickly.

    This should be what hoglins drop! That, or it could be a piglin drop, since their zombie form originally dropped it. I would prefer not to get food from humanoids, though.

    Add salt rock (an ore) to make bacon. It would be found in random veins of 5-10 and they will drop 1-3 salt crystals, increased with fortune. Then to make 4 pieces of raw bacon, place 1 salt crystal, 1 pork chop and 1 sugar in any pattern on any crafting grid. (Because bacon is cured pork). You can eat pieces of bacon faster than a pork chop but they restore the same amount of hunger as a raw pork chop (3 hunger points) and a saturation of 0.3 (half of a pork chop). Cooked bacon would restore 6 hunger points (2 lower than cooked pork chop) and a saturation of 0.6. I think this is a bit more realistic but this is minecraft so I don't know.

    Here is what I am thinking. 1/3 pigs would drop BACON and maybe you could use porkchops in a new "BUTCHER'S TABLE" to turn porkchops into BACON. Of course you would still keep the pork, but you would need coal to activate the BUTCHER'S TABLE. This would then add two extra items in the game. Please Mojang!

    Maybe pigs should drop pork which can be crafted into bacon or pork chops at a new butchers table.

    Maybe there would be a new item: Salt

    Pork chops ===> 3 bacon

    Pork chops would be filling 10 hunger points

    1 slice of bacon would fill 3 hunger points.

    Does bacon need a reason?  It is simply bacon.

    Heck, why do we have pigs?  We have beef.  We could just eat cows, and they give us leather.

    Pigs need to be better, and we all know that bacon makes everything better.

    By giving multiple food sources such as bacon and pork chops, we could get enough food out of pigs to make them worth farming.
