Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Yeah, sorry, but Mojang is not going to completely overhaul the tool system just because you didn't find a second diamond ore. Also, something like this would get so complicated that it's just not worth it. How would a pair of leather leggings edged with diamonds work, for example? Or a stone axe edged with a gold ingot? There's more than just durability and attack damage to take into account here.

Would diamond edged diamond armour exist with this?

Sounds like a great idea though, what with the combat update coming soon

    In Concept: Cool idea.

    In Execution: Pretty Bad idea.

Minecraft, as a game, is supposed to be about simple-to-learn game mechanics. That's why the crafting system worked so well. You don't have to know all the recipes. There's the obvious stuff, like planks, workbenches, and tools, but when you bring in a mechanic that functionally destroys tools and armour, it gets rid of the simplicity of Minecraft. Not to mention the absolute mess it would bring to the durability system.
