    Right now ridable animals, horse/donky/llama regen health at a slow rate, and tamed wolves and horse/donkey/mule can be regened by feeding them. Would be nice if one of those, feeding i would go with, was extended to all tamable and breedable pets/friendly mobs, as well as for when they eat for themselves.

    Right now keeping individual animals alive is pretty high effort, and mid to late game for most players i would guess. Its quite stressfull to constantly be keeping them away from even small amount of falldamage and stuff that might acumuulate without you notesing for the entire time you have your world running [possibly several months or years for a regular survival world, as opposed to just starting a new world every time you want to have a pvp match], so they just end up being kept indore or in pens. Yes, it could be an insentive to engage in more of the mechanics of the game [potions] for it to be more exiting, but for people who just want to build pretty houses and stuff its just annoying, and for people who want to do fansy stuff and play lots of the endgame suff there already is one, to heal yourselfe... some people want more cosy than exiting...

    Would make gathering animals from far away more feasable and not so grindy and lategame, even then, using potions is mostly an extreme emergensy usecase for more casual players, not something you carry around stacks of in shulker boxes to casualy make certain your pet has full health...

    No.  Otherwise pets are the ultimate weapon in pvp.  They cannot be killed.

    That wouldn’t be good for multiplayer. You could just tame a ton of dogs and send them at someone. Also what if you don’t want your pet anymore?

    Make it optional, so it only works if you disable friendly fire, that way you don't kill your pets and you can't send your pets to kill others because you can't hurt them because pvp is off.

    Not a good idea. The reason is that if a player is fighting you the game will become obviously less challenging and way much easier than before. Remember that this is reality too so in the game it makes sense to do injure your own pet. Just practice not to hit them

    What if your pets had beds, simler to the way players have beds, so when they die, they respawn home. That way pets aren't invisible.

    I kill pets all the time in singleplayer by accident while farming, etc. The only way to prevent this is to have pets sit around all day. I would like an optional console cheat command that would prevent death of pets by player.

    and make pets more compatible with /tp; whenever i tp with a vanilla pet it gets lost because its stuck in unloaded chunks; a simple fix for this would be if its in an unloaded chunk tp to the owner.

    maybe if they're only killable if they're in a hostile state thats BUT only when the owner attacks the other player, not the other way a round, otherwise someone could just hit you then kill your dogs.

    I like it. The thing that hurts my heart the most is when you accidentally hit your pet and it takes damage 💔. I like the idea of disowning a pet so we don't have to kill them. Maybe even a way of telling that that used to be your pet over there roaming around the local village.. like letting it keep it's name tag after disowning it.

    Why are people concerned with this for PVP? If you’re on a server with friendly fire turned off then they should not be hurt by friendly fire.

    If you’re on a PVP server where players can be hit by other players then fine, but it can be as simple as preventing tamed pets from being killed by friendly fire that from the owner.

    This needs to be a thing, having a bird, cat, or wolf teleport or move in front of you and then accidentally killing it while defending against mobs is ridiculous!

    People who want to kill a tamed pet that can’t be attacked with friendly fire can just drop them in a pit and pour lava on top.

    This is minecraft, just make a euthanasia machine with a bucket of lava in a dispenser, a pretty glass case and a switch lol 🤷‍♂️

    That would be nice because my CYCOPATH cousin trys/threatens to kill my pets. I of course kick him but the next day he comes back. Same thing with my friends little brother.

    I think there's already a friendly fire gamerule for this, but for tamed mobs/mobs with saddles this should exist
