When you are making your redstone suggestions, please note that Java and Bedrock will not have the exact same the same redstone systems - this would require redoing redstone system completely on one platform or the other. The two systems are functionally different and are going to stay that way. Please be sure to tag your suggestions with (Java) or (Bedrock).

So essentially, as soon as you have redstone, coal is just entirely useless.

No, the moment you have cobblestone and a stick coal becomes useless because you could place a lever on the side of the furnace and turn it on and give the furnace a redstone signal.

Not that I really ever use coal to smelt in a furnace anyways.  But it is that incredibly overpowered.

I think it would be a bit too easy. Just get a lever which is ssoooooo easy to make and bam infinite coal. If there was a noob difficulty in Minecraft it would be fine if this was in there but this is just to overpowered. :-\

It Wouldn't Be Good Because Then It Removes The Dangers Of Caves And + You Could 1 get 8 cobble to make a furnace 2 make a lever with 1 cobble and one stick that's it So Don't add this in

An electric furnace that is slower but takes redstone

this is a bit op, maybe if redstone was limited on power, because you could just put a redstone torch next to a furnace and be done.

I suggest that instead of making it smelts, it STOPS burning, like the hopper.

I swear a lever is easier to get ahold of than coal though, redstone is also easier to get large quantities of. This would also take away kelps only real use. If anything I'd rather this never even be partly considered.

This would make sense, though I feel a few considerations would need to be made:

    1. The furnace would need to smelt slower (maybe 2x slower as an example). You don't waste fuel, but it also takes significantly longer.
    2. The recipe for the furnace would also be more expensive than just cobblestone to make the initial investment higher and help with balance.

I think this is a great Idea but should cost something expensive. Like a nether star.

Rather than this, maybe employ some type of redstone engine or generator that can greatly enhance the efficiency of the furnace rather than just powering it with redstone.

It may be more balanced to add a turbine or blower block. It could be powered by an alternating current of redstone. Each pulse makes it spin a bit and each time it spins while pointing at a furnace it makes the coal fire hotter therefore smelting quicker.

The blower block could be used to push entities too. That could be cool actually.

This is cool, but make it a new block: Redstone furnace which is made combining a normal furnace with redstone. There would have to be disadvantages, and it would have to be fairly endgame, so make it crafted with a nether star as well maybe. One really cool mechanic that could be implemented here, would be a difference in the speed of the furnace based off of how much redstone power it is recieveing. If it is surrounded by redstone blocks on all sides except the front, then it would smelt really fast, and that could be it's downside as well because then it is way less compact.

it would be too OP. if you place a redstone torch on the side of it, you use 1 stick and 1 redstone, and never have to fuel it again.

Perhaps if the furnace was crafted with 8 iron blocks and took a very long time to smelt, it would be balanced

I really would love this in minecraft. It would be very helpful but you should make a special furnace that only works that way, and instead, a bit more expensive to make.

Definitely a late game item, would need a high cost to balance it out, as well as basic functionality.  For a recipe im thinking:

Netherite and Nether Stars aren't super farmable until way late game, each recipe would only make one furnace so it would be a grind to get multiple furnaces, especially for a large array, make it the same speed as a blast furnace, and then its balanced enough as long as it has to be power by a redstone signal of 15.

If you added new redstone with features like this in mind it would need a verrrryyyy late game crafting recipe or, a complete overhaul to not become overpowered. Like a coal or solar generator w/ batteries and other features, ect. I'm not against it but, features like that cannot be implemented without thought. Like a combat update.

This would be far too easy.

Mabey if this is too overpowered because you are smelting stuff with 1 lever, then you could make it so if a furnace is powered then it doesn't smelt but id it is, it starts smelting.

I disagree. This idea is already in many Mods, but they require a limited power source that is produced at a cost in another machine. Redstone is limitless. What you are suggesting is that you should be able to replace all the fuel that you will ever need in minecraft with just a lever..... made out of a piece of cobblestone and a stick. All players aquire those two items before coal.

I like the idea but little bit overpowered.
If they added something like power generator or so you have to use redstone in some logic ways like every time furnace gets output it smelts for one tick then it would be ok because it will be little more complicated to do.

I think this could be a cool addition, if the crafting recipe was a bit expensive, for example iron blocks or nether quartz, or even diamonds. If it also is slower, it could fit the game because there is the campfire, which, burns meat, is slower and doesn´t run out of fuel.

Ha, it might be overpowered but would introduce carbon neutral means of smelting items down in Minecraft

cobblestone (like furnace)+redstone dust/redstone radiator at middle

    9 cobblestone 2 redstone dust=powerd furnace+lever

    8 cobblestone 10 redstone dust=powerd furnace+block of redstone
