WolveReigner is correct here; your idea is basically already in the game.

The only new sand should, if at all, be magnetite (iron oxide), rust powder (red sand, which we have and should become iron oxide), and white sand which is, of course, normal sand!

Different Colored sand is a real thing. There is pretty much every color of sand in the rainbow, though it is very rare. There is pink sand from coral, black sand from volcanoes, green sand from a mineral called olivine, orange from a type of limestone, purple, brown. It goes on and on. I think this is a great idea!

Concrete Powder has sixteen different dye colors, and it has a texture similar to sand, so this is really in the game already.

I feel like this is a gr8 idea despite those that feel like co crete powder is a supplement. The reason why is for the grainy texture of a sandstone. Concrete powder is flare and dull once it's hardened while sandstone is rather lovely and to be limited on to the white and red colors is unfortunate. In fact is love a more golden textured sandstone. Perhaps a recipe involving gold nuggets.
