Sounds cool, but what new look do you have in mind? This is kind of useless for the devs otherwise...

I think the Squid's general appearance could remain the same, but the eyes could be moved to opposite sides of each other, and their bodies/heads could also have fins. The fins could also flap back and forth while the Squid moves.

Might I add that with the new model, it would have its 2 tentacles along with its other 8 arms. This could go well with the fish mobs, as they would try to eat the fish, kinda like how Guardians hunt squid around the ocean monument.

I made a model for a squid once, I couldn't get it to work, but here's a picture of the squid if you want another idea of what it could look like. I doubt they will actually change the squid model, but you can still use optifine to change it, or whenever (I hope) they add the ability to edit entity models in the java edition.

I would love to see the default squid updated. All the other animals in the game look like they are what they're supposed to be (if simplified) but looking at the squid I'm afraid that I wonder if the person who designed it had ever actually seen a squid, and it just feels inconsistent. I think the big things I would want changed are the number/types of limbs; the forward facing eyes; and the weird maw it has.

Look at the squids. Stare into their eyes.

    Beautiful. Timeless.

Make squids more realistic rather than just being a giant swimming block. It should be smaller too.

The teeth of the squid freak me out I stay away from squids at all cost I think they're going to eat me so I agree with the squid texture change

I would love this to be done, having Squids updated to look and act more like the real animal would do wonders for the ocean biome, the MC Squid IMO really looks out of place compared to all the other aquatic mobs, giving a more real squid look would alleviate that. Perhaps the model could be based on the real Humboldt Squid (image below), a deep-sea animal of a similar size to that of the squid that currently exists in Minecraft
I would especially love it if the squid no longer spawned in freshwater environments. Making it so that ink sacs can only be found in the seas gives us more reason to go there, and IMO there's never enough reasons to explore the oceans.

Perhaps the existing squid model (with a new texture) could still be used for an octopus mob though, it's already about the size of some larger octopus species, like the seven-arm octopus, and the giant pacific octopus (of course this mob too would be ocean exclusive, maybe squids spawn more commonly in deep water and octopi spawn more often in the shallows?).

The glow squid would still have spots and glow, of course
