Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Shoji paper walls and doors

So every now and then I see japanese themed houses, and a good way to simulate shoji is. . . Well either making due with fences, or getting a texture pack made.

It would be nice simply to have it in the game. Use one paper surrounded by eight sticks for the recipe, and use six shoji tiles in the usual three by two lay out to make the door.

    Add a picture of what shoji looks like in real life, please, because I imagine many of us have no idea what it looks like, myself included.

    Possibly both.the way japanese houses are made though we might not need more than the door and window pane blocks and we can use solid wood for the door frame.

    Alternatively a new kind of door, as the current door model doesn't set well with panes.

    Make it a sliding door please, and allow us to layer them like snow, except vertical.

    This is how I'd prefer them to work, a block that's just called shoji screens, they are oriented just like glass panes, but 2 times thicker. If there is empty space to 1 side horizontally right clicking would split it and slide to close that space, so you could have a 1x2 windows that can open and close or if you want a 2x2 door way you would have a 4x2 space with shoji screens on each side and closing both would make the 2x2 door. So that means if shoji screens are placed on top of each other it would act as a whole.

    I would love this. it should be crafted with bamboo and paper. 3x3 for a wall, 2x3, for a door, and 2x2 for a trap door. It’d be extra awesome if the door had new mechanics like sits in the center of the block, and you have to place two side by side to get a working door. Right click and the door “disappears” and the door block next to it gets thicker, and it makes a shoosh sound. But i would still be happy with a reskinned regular door.

    If they do add this it'd be nice if they added using banner textures so we can customize our doors and walls. Also this would give us a door that could go flush with wall blocks which will be a much desired thing since mojang changed how walls connect in the recent snapshots!

    i would love to see this in the game especially since ive been working on a Japanese village and oak doors dont really cut it as shoji screen doors

    and to add on to that make it so depending on what dye you put the door or wall texture it will change the design of it.
