When you are making your redstone suggestions, please note that Java and Bedrock will not have the exact same the same redstone systems - this would require redoing redstone system completely on one platform or the other. The two systems are functionally different and are going to stay that way. Please be sure to tag your suggestions with (Java) or (Bedrock).

Redstone Contacter

Redstone contacters are used to power redstone signals far away, for example: there is a big hole in the way and you don't want a bridge over there when powered, then you can use the contacter to send a signal over the gap, great for wireless contraptions.

There should of course be a range to the contacter, how about the contacter can reach up to 20 blocks away.

    I think this could be reasonable if there are clear limits to how it can be used.  For example, the two sides have to be pointed at each other and they have to have clear line of sight.  Because minecraft blocks only like to be placed in specific orientations, the line of sight would have to be a straight line, no diagonals allowed.

    Maybe there could be intermediate blocks that can bend the signal around a corner.

    Seems like it'd be overpowered. I could see it working only up to 16 blocks away though, and as ClayGoddessSari suggested, only if they were looking directly at each other.

    Doesn't something like this with just minor workarounds already exist? I was thinking of an observer that checks a line of string. Somewhere on the other side you push an entity (e.g. armor stand) into the string to send a signal. I understand that this of course is not transmitting through a real gap, but it should work for a lot of scenarios since its bridging the gap with a barely visible mechanism.

    Maybe a receiver, too? And if you agree, make sure the contacter is pointing at the receiver, and has a clear line of sight.

    You could also have it need to share 2 coordinates and be pointing in the right direction (think tripwire hooks) to connect so it doesn't need a gui.
