Please keep suggestions focused on a single idea per post. There are really interesting suggestions here, but they really belong in their own posts. https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360003401232-Posting-Guidelines

every few days is too common in my opinion, should be more realistic like 1/100 or 1/200 minecraft days at least

A solar eclipse would require the sun and the moon to travel at different speeds in the sky. Currently they travel at exactly the same speed and are exactly opposite in the sky, so a solar eclipse is impossible.

That said, it would be cool to have the sun and the moon travel at different speeds (very slight) and that on rare occasions the moon actually moves in front of the sun causing a solar eclipse. Special mobs could appear on these days, or special magical effects happen.

I agree that it can’t be this often and I think the monsters could be a bit too difficult to defeat although it does sound like a cool idea

This would be cool because you could have the clock in an item frame send a redstone pulse if an eclipse happends

every few days is too common , make it happen that there is like 3% chance of it happening

so every 100 days , 3 days of those have a lunar / solar eclipse

make this completely cosmetic, make it so it does not affect the game by any chance

I like the idea but the guardians shouldn't be too hard  to beat  I mean, what would happen if someone only had an iron sword and a solar/lunar eclipse happened?

I think the idea is good but you had a few too many requests. Just having solar/lunar eclipses would still be pretty cool.

Maybe ten days (perhaps 9 on hard and 11 on easy) after the last solar eclipse or the start of the world there is a quickly (quicker on higher difficulties) increasing chance of one happening. During an eclipse the light level is one fourth of the normal daylight and all night mobs including phantoms (weather you've slept recently or not) will spawn slightly faster than at night. To make an eclipse fluid with the day-night cycle (so an eclipse wouldn't be visible before the moon set) the moon could travel slightly faster (not obvious though) although only graphically though so game play wise it'd still be night although the moon would've set, therefor the eclipse would make a bit more scene.

Sorry this post is so long! I hope it makes scene!

Eclipses would be a great addition to the game.

It would be cool but makes no sense. The moon and sun are always on exact opposite sides of the planet.

@ObsidionWarrior, they could change the code so that the moon travels faster than the sun.

As much as I would love to see an eclipse in minecraft, it's simply not practical for the current game. The cycle of the sun and moon helps players track the time during day/night. It's a constant cycle that's a core part of the game. Having eclipses would require differentiating speeds of the sun and moon, and would completely remove the ability to track day and night (particularly night). Having a more unrealistic version of an eclipse, like a small random chance that the sun happens to be eclipsed when it rises would be more fitting. This would be the only way I would see it realistically possible without changing core elements of the game.

That's a great idea! I reckon the whole organisation of the world should be changed to get eclipses in Minecraft. Since they are rare events, would be really nice, if hostile mobs could spawn as they want without caring about the time the eclipse is taking place. Some of them could also be more powerful and agressive than they usually are. It would also be more difficult trying to kill them, even thought we're going to use weapons that might have been earlier boosted or just enchanted.
