Octopuses

Octopuses are mobs that are similar to squid, only better. They will spawn in coral reefs, and when attacked, it will go near a coral block and change its texture to look like it. When spawned manually, it will be one of the random coral colors. When it is not near a coral block, it will act as a squid when attacked.

    Great idea!  Maybe they could drop tentacles that could be put in a furnace to make fried octopus?

    I like this idea! 

    Rather than making them behaving just like a squid when attacked though, it would be cool to have them poison the player instead of just blinding them.

    I'd had a similar idea for sea anemone which would live attached to coral blocks, and would poison the player if they got too close to it. Perhaps the octopus could poison the player when attacked and then run to hide next to coral blocks

    Octopuses in real life would drown people just because they get curious. They should only camouflage when they are not being attacked and sting players back with poison when attacked (not ink).

    First of all, Minecraft squids need to be greatly fixed.  They are more like octopods than squid, and they appear in freshwater!  If they do the fix, other cephalopods would be cool, but not needed.  Squids should be hostile, too, but not effected by the peaceful mode.

    I'm honestly surprised that this wasn't in the aquatic update. I think it should drop ink sacs but also suction cups. Suction cups can be added to armour to make it so you stick to walls and can climb up them like ladders or vines but you can only climb a certain amount of blocks, more depending on how many pieces of suction cup armour you have on..

    I think inc sacs dropped from squids and octopuses should be able to be brewed into blindness potions

    They should be able to turn invisible, open doors, no food from them most likely because mojang doesn’t like that. Change color fit in half slabs, iron bars, and anything with holes. They could promote exploration because if you find one and follow it you can find some neat stuff. Very shy, will eat crabs if added. turn colors, add a bit more to a coral reef. It will steal shiny treasures if it finds a chest underwater. It would have a cool eating animation where it grabs the food and uses all eight technicals to shove it into it’s mouth. For crabs it will camouflage and sneak up on them and pounce spreading it’s arms into a net then eating animation. It would not swim but walk against the sea floor with the crabs giving you a reason to dive deep down. It would be able to escape sand and climb a few blocks up even out of water. Would love climbing through small places and when seeing soul sand bubbles it would reach out a tentacle and touch the bubbles playing with them. Rare mobs hard to find. But if you can find one without being noticed it would be the most amazing thing ever. To the mojang team,have fun finding ways to show the shy yet curious nature of the octopusto the artists, though it may be hard making a well made blocky form for this creature, think of all the cute animations you can make. I for one think these guys if done right can be the cutest things in Minecraft (maybe cuter than bees 😉).to the coders. Wow this may seem like a tough project you may think and it is, but you can also code in some cool behaviors for this creature (octopus use tools, camouflage, pop of their own arms etc.) octopus are very cool and unique creaturesoctopus may be one of the best non hostile animal that could be added to Minecraft.

    I love this ideas and if you feed a octopus some food (idk what somebody finish the food with by saying at the start of your post ‘food for the octopuses) then it becomes your friend and will protect you from danger (requiring you are underwater) and if you kill you will have a 1% chance of giving you a Octopus merger and once put onto your helmet section to turn you into an octopus while underwater. I think the merger should be for other ideas. Mergers should only spawn once per world for each animal.

    They should drop tentacles when killed. Then using the tentacles you can use it in a potion, to make a potion of stickiness so you can climb things like a spider.

    I would love to see my favorite animal in the game, but I think just a straight-up octopus would always be too similar to the squid. And, if given some of these interesting abilities, would overshadow the old derp bags too much I think.

    So maybe instead of throwing the octopus in the oceans of the overworld, how about the lava lakes or even roofs of the nether? We have yet to have any normal, real-world animals be added to the other dimensions so it could be interesting. It for sure wouldn't just be a normal octopus but obviously a much more, devilish one of course. I imagine anything from a lava lake Kraken to an eight-armed goblin that camouflages as nearby blocks as he sneaks up and steals the treasure out of your inventory only to run towards fire and lava and sit in the middle where he knows you can't get him. 

    And maybe while we're at it, a color-shifting, starry-eyed cuttlefish to float about in the end? :)

    Omg yes. Octopus are one of my favorite sea creatures. Having these guys would be amazing especially if they were more cube like unlike the rectangular squid model.

    The octopus could be shorter and slightly fatter than the squid. Maybe the default non-camo skin could be a red or a crimson similar to the strider

    It's a great idea for octopus, but I'd like to suggest an idea for octopus.
    It's a subspecies of squid, but it's there on the ocean floor and doesn't swim like squid.
    I usually change the color to hide and hide.
    When attacked, it spits ink and escapes quickly.
    When defeated, the "octopus leg" will be dropped.
    This octopus leg can be eaten by baking, and it is also possible to make a delicious dish called "octopus and potato" using potatoes and octopus legs.
    There is also a subspecies of the octopus called "Blue-ringed octopus" that appears in the warm sea but is extremely poisonous, but it has the poison of spitting or biting and injecting this saliva when it feels dangerous.
    It is possible to catch it live in a bucket.
    In addition, there is "Mendako" as a subspecies in the deep sea or underground lake.
