    The mayor villager could have iron golems following him around the village.

    I had this idea, but instead, you could be the mayor, you can call village meetings, which will gather all the villagers in the village to where you are (or like a podium that you can use to call the villagers to you) and you have the option to be mayor of a village like let’s say you go to the bell, when you ring it, it will say “Do you want to be the mayor?” And it will have “yes” or “no”. Stuff like that

    Honestly, when I saw this post, as well as this other suggestion, I felt like it ought to be the "Mayor" class of villager that does any of the "quest requesting".
    This way, we could have the Mayor acting in a very authoritative and responsible manner that befits the title.
    However, there would have to be a detective system to tell when a task is sufficiently completed. This is the only real hurdle, but it's not impossible to bridge.
    This, and having the Mayor go around talking with the other villagers throughout the day would add a load of immersion to the Villager Villages, and to the game.

    I had the same idea! (It's what I am here).

    OK this is good. It's like I think, but I have some appointments to do:

    He must trades really rare items: it's cool, but only they do it if you have a "Hero of the Village" status, and at high price (examples):

    • A single diamond: 6 - 10 blocks of emerald;
    • Enchanted Golden Apple: 64 blocks of emerald;
    • Lava bucket: 1-2 blocks of emerald (to make it an renewable resource);
    • Banner Pattern Creeper: 30 - 36 blocks of emerald;
    • Banner Pattern Skull: 28 - 34 blocks of emerald;

    That mob don't really need a job site block to be a Mayor, but have to be an unemployed villager and be in a populous village, like with a 20 villagers.

    "An Illager's target him more" Yes! I thought the same! But he always have a Iron Golem next to him.

    He will appears in big villages, always with a Iron Golem that will follow the Mayor and defend him (DR01DBOY50, I think it before find this post too!).

    The mayor (or Leader) will do everything first (like wake up), but sleep after all villages (time based - if another villager don't go sleep for any reason, the Mayor go sleep anyway).

    Quests: no.

    He should live in a small castle with golems that follow him only.

    what if when the mayor dies he chooses the best villager to be mayor after him, and if you have good relations with the village, and the mayor dies, you get the Mayor of the village status effect, which goes away when you die. you get better deals on trades, you can tell villagers what to do, and stuff like that

    Good Idea! The mayor should have a job site block so that your own structures can become Villages and villagers will spawn!

    Maybe instead of trades, he unlocks features (ability to increase village size to a certain extend etc) as rewards for completing quests

    All villages have 'Villager Leader', which can be found using the Bell. It makes sense to make the leader in to a Mayor.

    My idea is to simply have the Mayor appear in a unique outfit and does not have it's own Workstation. Instead of claiming a Workstation, the Mayor claims the entire village.

    If a villager were made to be a Mayor, I think it cannot be given a new job and there can only be one Mayor per valid village. So if another Mayor is in a village that was already claimed, it cannot claim it.

    Any other AI functions is up in the air. I just think it would be cool to have a Mayor for a village.

    Personally I would build the Mayor a unique house as a Town Hall.

    the village and pillage update came out. Let's take a break from villagers ok. Villagers don't need a leader selling op things like diamond blocks.

    How about a Villager becomes mayor when there are more than 20 villagers and there is no mayor and the villager isn't already locked into another profession.  So if he dies, another villager gets "voted" into mayor if they're not all already locked out.

    i really like the idea, i've even got a bonus idea to contribute as well :O

    if a village has no beds, job sites and no bell/s, villagers will instead follow the mayor around more often cause when villages have no beds, job sites and bells in the area, they sometimes don't even bother to wander around and just stand there all day and night which can prove to be detrimental, especially if you are say... trying to bring the villagers into an underground bunker as an example, if the mayor goes, so do the others.

    a mayor can help bring order when there is none and to aid this... the mayor even gains a speed boost when near a bell so the mayor can quickly run around to the nearest bell and ring it when there's a village raid and or zombie siege going on since most other villagers can move quick to ring a bell but... they don't move quick enough usually to get into houses that may be far off. the mayor can help with this as a good support to the village. just to give you that slightly faster bell ring so you don't need bells everywhere.

    Maybe if he dies, another villagers automatically becomes mayor. Maybe he could give you quests that if completed, he will give you valuable items, or maybe just trading with the villagers, but that might be too over-powered.

    Not a bad idea. The job could be linked with the Glock which is in every Village.
