Colored Redstonelamps. They emit their color.
I've heard its really hard to do that but, there are even mods of it, so I think mojang will be able to do this.
I believe in you, mojang just dont give up
I like color

Instead of rewriting the lighting engine maybe Mojang could make the default shader tint blocks and entities based on a light-color tag.
Maybe instead of the red blue green light system, it could follow the paint primary system llike cauldron colors do.
I disagree. We already have stained glass; redstone lamps should be left the same, but stained glass should change the color of the light emitted by light sources when placed in front of them.
Also, if you're rewriting the lighting engine to incorporate color, make Soul Fire Torches/Lanterns emit blue light and Redstone Torches emit red light.
Finally, this might cause lag, so make it a world option that is off by default.
They added soul torch and soul lantern...
Concerns about black, gray and light gray lights... My suggestion would be for them to render less light (or no light with black) but have it still them repel mobs the same as regular light!
Mojang has already proven this to be possible. At their Minecraft Ray Tracing demo, they displayed objects emitting various colors of light, including the feature of color mixing, and this is with rtx and ray tracing capabilities! Surely they could be able to include this within the vanilla game.
The color mixes when the lamps are different colors
Black lamps should emit black light which should look like this:
Honestly, I know it's an enormous challenge, but when I think of the atmospheric benefits, I don't think anything compares to the necessity of colored lights—not just through lamps, but just as a generally available feature for the game.
There's sort of a truism among artists: If you're good at color theory, you don't have to be that good at drawing. Now imagine that applied to, say, biomes. Yes, a Swamp update would be nice, but imagine if Minecraft's lighting engine was compatible with glowing marsh lights that actually provided a sickly tint? What if Mojang added flowers or mushrooms for caves, mushroom islands and dark oak forests that cast their surroundings in blue or red or golden light?
Think of this as a long-term investment in quality of exploration and construction. The actual marginal utility, the options it opens up, the effort those options could save—it takes my breath away. It's worth it.
also i want my flashy 1800s disco ballroom
i think this would help people make more creative thing in Minecraft too
It'd be great to have a purple light tint when making a little man cave tbh
i swear i saw this a while back
Colored lighting would be really cool to have! And with the addition of colored Redstone Lamps, each emitting their appropriate color, we could also see certain existing blocks change to have different colored light.
For example, Redstone Torches would give off a Red light, Sea Lanterns and End Rods would give off White light, and Blue Fire would give off, well, Blue light!
A vote from me! These would be great to implement as colors can be very important in a build or even as a signal light to make sure your redstone is working right.
Black Lamps, instead of not existing, could light the room, as in not make mobs spawn, but not visually brighten it.
I really wanna have colored lamps in Minecraft because I’m making a colorful place and with one color it doesn’t look cool or anything
i want colorful lamps!!
a post that I thought of doing, but I'll post it here in the comments so as not to create another post with the same subject.
-> a new redstone lamp that can be of various colors.
it would be a redstone lamp, like the one that currently exists, but with a lighting power lower than the current redstone lamp and that has its color defined by the strength of the redstone signal that is energizing it.
and the coolest thing is that we have 16 colors, but excluding black (which would be the lamp off) there are 15 colors possible for the lamp, which fits with the fact that the maximum strength that the redstone can reach is also 15.
to define what colors would be assigned to each level of the redstone signal i find it interesting to use the electromagnetic spectrum for this. the most energized colors in the spectrum would be those that need a more energized redstone.
I love the idea someone else posted of a "prism lamp" that changes color depending on redstone signal! Maybe that type of lamp could require, instead of a dye, a piece of quartz—reflecting how it's got a crystal that's actually bending the light into lots of different colors!
this could create much more ambient environments, as map makers could give witch's dungeons a green-purple light, and snowier biomes a light blue light.
I think this would be great, was just about to suggest this myself! I think the recipe should either be a red stone lamp with dye, or a red stone lamp with colored glass around it. I remember seeing colored lamps in Minecraft: Story Mode (If anyone remembers that). This really needs to be in the game.
the soul fire lights have come out with a blue light so they should make light of all colours
Think of all the different things you could do with this
Colored redstone lamps that emit their respective light color would be one of the BEST things added to the game!
The amount of ambience they'll provide for certain builds is absolutely LIMITLESS. Please consider adding this to the game at one point Mojang, thank you.
