Potion effects on armor

First of all, I'd like to note that making potions placeable in cauldrons is something I discussed in my Liquid Reforms post. It also is a current feature in Bedrock Edition.

But concerning your other ideas: I'm not sure you've thought this through enough. Let's say I have a leather helmet with instant damage II potion effect. What on earth does that do? Do I get instant-damaged every time I walk around or something?

As another example: does having a leather chest plate with a regeneration potion effect mean I get 24/7 regeneration? That's seriously overpowered. With Mending, I could easily counteract the extra durability cost you mentioned.

This is a pretty creative idea, but it wouldn't work. No support, sadly.

I'd say instead of durability, it just runs out as you wear it, like how there's a time limit when you drink a potion
