This is one of the features I want the most, I am running a Spigot server for the sole purpose of having the "OpenInv" plugin. If vanilla had a way to view and alter player inventories/ender chests(including OFFLINE players too!) with commands, I would switch immediately to vanilla.
The plugin works mostly fine so some ideias could be taken from it, adding a better GUI to separate what is armor/hotbar/etc.

This would be very nice for say server admins to check people's inventory to make sure they are hacking or exploiting. But you should have a separate command for adding/removing items in the players inventory like /inventory control [player name] and /inventory view [player name]. This would have to not show up in chat as being used as a command otherwise people could hide items that arnt allowed normally.

I can't see how that would fit in with the other commands in the game.

omfg YES! i play bedrock and im not sure what version you are asking this for, but bedrock needs it with the amount of hackers destroying realms! I, and many other realm moderators, could use this command to view into suspects inventories and enderchest inventories to decide who cheated and who didn't!

Maybe a similar command: /playerinv [target, player type] [see/edit/clear] [variant: e.g. ender_chest/inventory] [notify player= true/false] obviously this command only accessible by administrators on a server also some cute and funny message when you try to use the command: (/playerinv @s see inventory [true/false]) something like, “Just press <assigned inventory key>, silly!”,(also please a better way to edit loot tables, maybe a ui when you edit a mobs loot table, it opens a 27 slot ui above the players inventory and hotbar, from there you can take items out, edit the drop rates by shift clicking them, which opens a slider for the percent, and you may edit the amount of that item that drops, by just adding more to the ui menu, and im pretty sure you get it by now)

No, you just don't look at my inventory. Change the command to /Show_inventory [player] and then MC shows your inventory to all, or to player. (the show to all maybe spammable)

In reply to original poster's comment:

    Base Command: /player (target) [arguments]
    Examples:
    /player Etanarvazac inv edit false
    /player Etanarvazac stats
    /player Etanarvazac perm advanced true

    AreaInfo Arguments:
inv (viewType) [shulk:boolean] - See selected player's inventory, equipped armour, and offhand. Include Shulker would mean "inv true". Not specified would be false. You must also set a view type: view or edit.
stats - View player's basic stats: Health, Hunger, Armour, Air, Insomnia, Location (e.g: dim, x, y, z)
    ec - Ended Chest inventory
eff - View current potion/beacon effects on the player.
perm (level) [boolean] - Allow player to use "/player" cmd, must be OP to use. Arguments: basic, advanced, opped

    Permission Levels:
    Basic - Stats, Effects
Advanced - Stats, Effects, Inventory (excl. Shulker, viewing only)
Opped - Stats, Effects, Inventory (incl. Shulker, and inv edits), Ended Chest, Permissions

/invsee [target player] [player who will see the inventory]? I think it would show a GUI (as if looking in your own inventory) that you would be able to move items around, add items, or take away items. This would be very useful for moderators of small servers who need a simple way to do things.

For a stake of adding this would have a great opportunity to be added. Bedrock players would love to have this command to exist. if /data or /invsee can be added to Minecraft we would have a good time not clearing someone's inventory for the waste or redoing something that is something very important to worlds, realms, servers. We would love this command to be added to save our time and not waste and ruined our time. I do see how it could be difficult to add such a command to add. But, we always needed this to exist. Once the command is activated, it allows us to see the player inventory by seeing two separate GUI & UI of inventory. From there we can have access to others by using easy time instead of clearing and wasting our time. Please Mojang, Microsoft, Minecraft Devs, it would be awesome if this can be added to the game.
