Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Staff Weapon

the staff will be a weapon that has the power of an iron sword and will have enchantments that gives the staff a magical ranged attack some of the enchantments could be....

ENCHANTMENTS

  • Evocation-shoots out a line of evocation fangs as a ranged attack like the evokers attack.
  • Inferno-shoots out a small fireball like the blaze has.

    Yeah that is a great idea. Maybe include also spells that resemble a ender pearl or potion ability's as well

    Staff with both melee and range would be interesting, though could cause problems for effect consistency.
    Maybe the staff should have items as ammo instead of enchantments.
    Fire Charges for fireball effect, Snowball for cold effect plus slowness, Emeralds for gound spikes, Ender Pearl's to teleport, and Spider Eyes to poison.
    Advantage would be greater range than you can normally throw, but offset with still consuming the items.
    Crafting could be a diagonal of two Blaze Rods and an Emerald Block.

    Very Good idea, this is what we need to improve combat. I would suggest this.

    There should be a base staff, the Standard Magic Staff, this one would be crafted using Gold (one of the most magical materials in the game), Wooden Sticks and some kind of Pearl or Cristal (chance for new ore here). I imagine this item would look like this (sprite made by me):

    By pressing the use item button (right click) this would shot a white luminous orb at a speed of 30 blocks per second and would travel up to 60 or 90 blocks away. It would have a base damage of 1 if you shot it instantly, but if you charge it for at least 0.5 seconds, the damag would increase to 3; if you charge it for at least 1.0 second, the damage would increase to 5; and if you charge it for at least 1.5 seconds, the damage would increase to 7 that's the maximum you would be able to get.

    Then, just like you said, enchantments or special recipes would create new kinds of Staffs that would have special shots with special properties.

    I feel like this staff should be crafted using an alter which needs 5 chiseled stone and any enchanted, Three stones on the bottom 2 on the sides and the enchanted book in the center. The alter can be used like a crafting table but it can also be used to craft magical objects. And here's my suggestion for the staff.

    You get the staff but then you'll get the mount and the jewel each part will improve the staff's durability, storage, resistance to breaking, and power. The player would be able to customize the staff from training with a wizard or dark wizard. Each wizard teaches a different type of magic wizards teaching good magic and dark wizards teaching dark magic. 

    The staff should also need the souls of certain mobs to cast spell. For example a teleportation spell: endermen. Souls however can be used up so you'll need to capture more. You'll also be able to open a menu to select which soul you'd like to use and how much durability it has left. 

    Staffs will be able to be broken but I don't know how the reason I'd like to have this is so the souls that weren't used that were in the staff can take their revenge on you.

    That's a great idea, but if you right click or hold the screen with your staff in hand, it should have one inventory slot that allows u to put different items for different types of powers.

    The staffs combined with different items should have different powers. Give your staff a clock and you can freeze time for 5 seconds (5 xp per use). Give it a blaze rod and you can shoot flame particles that burn mobs (15 xp per use; 5 seconds per use). Give it an elytra and can grant you flight for 10 seconds (20 xp per use). Give it a ghast tear, and it will give regeneration 4 for 20 seconds (30 xp per use). Give a nether star, you can shoot 10 wither skulls (5 xp per wither skull). Finally, give it a dragon egg to summon a baby ender dragon in battle (only lasts for 5 minutes, uses 50 xp per use. Stats: 150 hearts, shoots ender breath, and does 10 attack damage. Can also ride and control it.

    Staff have a durability of 600, can be enchanted with unbreaking and a new enchantment restoration which allows you to use spells for less xp (only 1 level).

    yes maybe people use redstone or lapiz with the staffs to be able to make them? maybe the staff is similar to the iron or is charged up with something? maybe torches? to keep your staff lit?

    With the Bamboo block coming into its own, now would be the perfect time:

    Stave:

    • Bamboo/wood for bō staff*;
    • iron, gold, diamond, etc. for spear;
    • coal for placeable tiki torch + fire damage staff;
    • red stone/amethyst/... for ?magic?; 

    * – for the different wood types, you get different colours staves. For a bamboo iron spear to get the cherry blossom colouration:

    This introduces the stave evolution mechanic (perhaps a villager profession?). Something silly like this:
