Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

For what? If just decoration purposes, that's a no from me.

It would be nice, but what would they do? Weapons and armor seems like a very pedestrian use for something like that. Would they just be used as beacon blocks or decorations? Can they be used to create unique items? They could be used for magic, or maybe in redstone technology. I know rubies are used in lasers in real life, so maybe some kind of light-based object could be made with them?

That is a good idea we can use it for weapons and armor

You could just use a resource pack to make emeralds red and change their names to rubies. Stuff shouldn't be added unless they have a purpose.

It can't be a new ore because we already have redstone and everything is color coded, my opinion is to turn redstone ores into redstone crystal and making rubie ore

they should be used as a currency rarely, used to make armor and tools with durability 50% of diamonds, and spawn below y22. also mobs should have good chance of spawning with ruby tools

there could also be an easter egg when rubies spawn next to emerald and diamonds

    Good idea!
New trade currency, new ruby blocks, ores rarely equivalent to emerald ores.

What would be the point of having them?

This would be a good idea for a cave update. Maybe they could do something with light, and maybe for decoration.

They could be used in trading but be worth 10 or 20 emeralds for example.

This would act as an alternative currency for villagers?

Rubies should be a Nether exclusive ore because the Nether needs more ores. They could be used to barter with Piglins, craft a block of ruby, and make a Laser Beacon(more on that later). Rubies can be found at bedrock level in the Nether, but inside clumps of stone. Each ruby ore gives 3-7 rubies. The Laser Beacon I mentioned earlier is a red beacon that shoots a laser that can: kill mobs, ignite TNT, set fire to flammable objects, like wool and wood, and break blocks, even obsidian! It is crafted like a normal Beacon, but with a ruby instead of a Nether Star. Each time you use the Laser Beacon, it has to recharge for 5 seconds and it takes away 2 points from its 300 points in its durability bar.

Rubies are known for their use in laser technology, so hopefully if they get added we could use them for a laser beacon, the first laser was a ruby laser. It could also be used as a secondary trade item, right behind emeralds.

I would love to see rubies, especially because my favorite color is red, but I also think it would make for a nice additional beacon block. Currently Redstone makes a nice red block, but its better for practical uses than decorative, and I feel that it would be a nice gemstone and gem block to add. With the nether update coming up, perhaps it could be an ore only accessible in the nether to go with the red of the new forest and old wastelands biomes.

Rubies could upgrade iron tools and armor in the smithing table. All durability is same as iron.

Ruby Sword: Damage between iron and stone. Has a 60% chance of setting the opponent on fire.

Ruby Pickaxe: Has auto-smelt. Mines the same speed as iron.

Ruby Axe: Mines the same speed as iron. When mining wood, the wood automatically turns to charcoal.

Ruby Hoe: Between iron and diamond.

Ruby Shovel: Between iron and diamond.

Ruby Armor: Each armor piece adds a 15% chance of not getting hit by fire damage.

I think rubies should be as rare as emeralds, spawning in desert biomes, and in veins of one.

Aside from being able to create tools, armor, and a block— I dunno any other uses for Ruby. I do know that it has a history of being a healing gem and one for beauty

Well, one of you have written an overpowered use for rubies. So, I will make those uses more normal, but upgraded.

    Weapons and tools:

Ruby Sword: Damage as Diamond, Durability between Iron and Diamond.

Ruby Pickaxe: Mine a little bit faster than Diamond, but not as fast as Netherite. Durability between Iron and Diamond.

Ruby Axe: Breaks wood a little bit faster than Diamond, but not as fast as Netherite. Durability between Iron and Diamond.

Ruby Shovel: Dig as fast as Diamond. Durability between Iron and Diamond.

Ruby Hoe: Breaks blocks as fast as Diamond. Durability between Iron and Diamond.

    Armor:

This is a special case. Ruby Armor should be exactly the same as Diamond. But with an upgrade: This armor could make bounce arrows and some projectiles back, wit low probability of this happening. This armor would be useful when we fight skeletons or pillagers.

Why not Mojang Studios add both rubies and emeralds before?

it would be used for tools and armor and the armor could give you fire resistance and the sword would have built in fire aspect

Rubies should be used in making armor and tools that are interesting, similar to how gold stuff is very weak but can get the best enchantments. Maybe make them as strong as diamonds but is as durable as gold stuff, and make rubies as rare as diamonds, but they can be found at higher levels and they have bigger veins.

dear Ranfosbbhd, in a way rubies, are in the game the reason they aren't is that one of the developer is caoer blind ruby where supost to be emrulds but the coulerblind dev chould not tell the defrese be tween them and redstone. there for we won't get rubys

I like this idea, rubies should be rarer than diamonds but not as rare as emeralds. Would have the same protection and damage as diamond but better durability and more enchantment options.
