So Mojang decided to overhaul Minecraft's water mechanics, which I think are pretty neat.
Dinnerbone said that he does what to overhaul lava as well, which also sounds pretty neat.
But what about Air? What if all non-solid blocks had air inside them and let air through.
At first, that might not sound very exciting, but it will make for the possibilities of new mechanics.
example
Vacuum rooms:
#1 Entities take suffocating damage inside these rooms.
#2 water does now follow inside these rooms.
#3 No sound can travel through these rooms.
#4 A potion to cancel out the effect of air suffocation.
#5 No fire possible.
#6 New charcoal making mechanics: charcoal is made by lighting
wood on fire. fire will not be visual and just
give off smoke particles, due to the absence of
air.
Air columns under water.
New Mobs That can blend air and throw players up.
Windy on high altitudes
and much more
Note: This is just a rough idea.
