    This might be a bit out there but I like digging very large vertical holes and one of the worst things is hauling items up and down or building a spiraling rail track. Why limit this to caves and and something like a lift which could haul items up and down slowly but effectively. They could have weight limits like one or two players and even one double chest would be the limit. Of course they wouldn’t be fast because that’s just elevators but I feel as if it would be a good idea. It can be the introduction to rope from spider string or other sources as well as mine carts as the carriages. This idea may be getting further away from what we generally think Minecraft is/once was but with all the things you can do with red stone it might be a good option

    Maybe improve the generation of the caves and make it so that you can find mushrooms in deep parts of the cave

    Although people have suggested adding new ores and gems blindly, it is one of my main problems with most mod packs. Blocks with no real use will only serve to be an annoyance once the novelty wears off as Andesite, Diorite, etc. were. Aesthetic enhancements are only fine as long as they don't interfere with the original utility of a system. The main reason to go caving is to get as much ore as possible.

    Having said that, I do believe it can be made a more exciting experience if done right.

    My contributions pt.2.:

    Items:

    • Hook: found in deep underground dungeons (chest)
    • Grappling hook - crafted with rope/lead and hook
    • Dungeon torch - on sidewalls, can be reignited by rightclicking with a torch
    • Dynamite sticks and dynamite arrows
    • Locked chests and keys to open them (iron)
    • Chemiflourescent jelly - dropped by glowing fish, sea pickles, glowing mushrooms
    • Unique armour and weapon variants found in chests (e.g. Iron armour with an exclusive skin)
    • Enchanted books or potions for treasure vision
    • Light source helmet - not a mining helmet!
    • Poisonous plants - jungle caves
    • Crystals - (not able to craft armour)
    • Glowing mushrooms
    • Glowstick - throwable, with slime becomes sticky, made with chemiflourescent jelly

    Blocks:

    • New ore textures - Resemble real ore (Reddish stone - iron, greenish stone - copper...)
    • Hard stone - bluish, contrasts beautifully with lava (+gold)
    • Red dirt - around iron ore areas, would make a nice colour palette with vegetation (jungle,surface caves?)
    • Wet stone - slippery and fragile stone variant, makes stalagtites and stalagmites, waterdrops
    • Wet pillar - form stalaktites, fence like form, wet stone texture and properties, waterdrops
    • Stalaktite - grass type item, no drops, forms on the downside of wet stone and pillar, waterdrops
    • Acid - liquid, bedrock level, melts every block
    • Fossils - undrground deserts and sea-caves, give nautilus shells
    • Tree roots - obtained with silktouch
    • Changes:
    • Trident is obtained by slaying all three Elderguardians (3 spikes + 2 prismarine shards)

    Maybe there be different biomes in caves, because when you're in a cave you cant really tell what biome your in (unless its ocean or mesa). Like maybe tundras would have snow caves, which could have evil snow golems. and maybe there could be lava that sometimes rose(block by block or something ;P). Mushroom caves could have some new passive mushroom animal. and maybe ocean biomes could have some weird creatures (because in oceans the deeper you go the weirder the creatures get). And there's probably a lot more biomes that I missed. But anyway the cave update could totally change minecraft!

    I’m all for this. I assume it’ll be for both Java and Bedrock?

    I love the stalagmites and stalagtite ideas and would like to see more cave exclusive hostile mobs. Yeah!

    Sorry can’t find my comment. I’d also like to add: as long as it’s playable on older machines and older mobile devices. I’ve got both and would not be able to play at all if the upgrades were too reaource heavy.

    Cave update idea:
    What about making diamond WAY rarer to find, not only in caves, but in treasure itself aside from when you enter the end.

    Wooden tools should be TERRIBLE. Only breaking up to 30 blocks of stone and wood variants ONLY. Stone tools are just a more durable than the wooden counterparts and allow to mine coal and copper which is a weaker variant or iron. Iron, gold and diamond should be WAY rarer than they are. Copper should allow the player to mine gold and iron and is as common as iron is now. Iron should be as common as Redstone, gold stays the same, diamonds should be extremely rare especially in treasures found in temples and such (to add more meaning to the word "mine" in Minecraft).
    Add crystles to the game that enhance the power of beacons and are a decorative block. Make them as rare as emeralds. There can be many different colours and they illuminate the light a little lighter when shown through them. Also they should have the possibility of creating fire if light penetrates them and hits something flammable. However,no types of armour needed for them.
    Dungeons should be slightly enhanced to make them more interesting such as adding traps and different structure design.

    I think this is a great idea, and I'm all for it, with the exception of mobs only spawning in caves. It would make early game Hardcore way too easy (Java only obv). Other than that, I love this!

    it would be cool to see an enchanted cave which is a massive cave with water pits and the water is purple 

    -bookshelves scattered around

    -chests with stuff to do with enchanting and brewing

    -witches naturally spawn inside.

    I haven't read all the 600+ comments that are already here, so I'm probably repeating a lot but here's what I would like to see (granted some of if not most of this is stolen from mods that already exist):

    - Stalagmite and Stalgtite: mentioned probably millions of times already

    - Cave Biomes: again mentioned a lot

    - Larger Caves: I'd LOVE to see Larger caves in general, not bigger cave systems but giving caves a larger diameter. One mod that really impressed me doing something like this was Worley's Caves Mod. I loved exploring much larger caves and coming across a massive area underground where a few different caves came together to create a giant empty, well cave xD.

    - Underwater Lakes/Flooded Caves: We already have caves that are flooded with water in ocean biomes, why not extend this to any biome? Make it a tad more rare to find a flooded cave and maybe if your lucky you'll find one of those massive empty cave sphere areas I was on a tangent about that just so happens to have an underground lake in it!

    - Dense Ores: I think this would be another good addition, after a while Mining just gets to be pretty monotonous and boring. Occasionally finding a dense ore inside a ore vein that'll reward you with 2-3 times the amount of ore for a single block could really spice up mining a bit, without breaking the style of Minecraft or having the need of adding more ores.

    it would be cool if there was redstone gear it would emit light while you walk throgh a really dark cavern you would craft it with redstone blocks

    hey, uhm i just wanna say someting that you might be interested in to add in minecraft cave system. first:like new ores that are harder to find ,second:new armor and tools add some pokemon mods to if you dont mind, ofcourse third add new mobs if there is new armor it needs bigger badder enemmies thank you thats my ideas sorry for the wrong spelling byeee
