Ostrishes are animals that are unpredictable and strange. I think this would be a great new animal to have in our savannas. An ostrish is a mod that had a 50% change of attacking you, when it attacks you, it takes 3 hearts. It should also some times attacks villagers too. If it does not attack you, it is instantly tame, you can mount it and control it by holding a carot on a stick. It should be leashable if a friendly one. It should stand the same height as a wither skeleton, and the baby's as high as a baby horse. It should lay eggs that when you through them they have no chance of hatching a baby ostrich. Mother ostrishes should be hostile and baby's should be tamed. Thet should have 5 lives and drop feathers and leather. They could spawn inbetween deserts and savannas, and around sand temples. They also can stick their heads in only sand, when their heads are under the sand, tgey wont attack. This would be a neat mob that can spice up adventures give a new mob for deserts and savannas. They could be super weird spawns.

I see the Ostrich!
Awesome on the Savannah creature to tamed Rides on the farm
You've an interesting mob here!
Sticking their head in the sand is a common myth. They don't actually do that, but it really isn't a harmful myth.
Drops sound like it will be akin to the Chicken: Feathers, possibly eggs, and maybe meat. Ostrich is eaten in Africa and it is a dark red meat according to Wikipedia. They also can produce leather apparently?
Perhaps ostriches are the only way to exterminate termites: Any time you try to destroy a termite spawn block, it just infests nearby blocks.
And although I didn't think it possible: Wikipedia does mention Ostrich Racing as part of South African culture. It does say they're harder to control than horses ... so perhaps their Riding mechanic should be faster than a pig, slower than a horse, and sometimes they deviate from your desired path.
Congrats to Ostrich fans!
I would advise not to have ostriches stick their heads into sand, this is a myth and it's important to not add myths like this. Remember the parrot? The team had to change parrots so that they die when their fed cookies, because they were gonna have them be fed with them, due to a common myth of "Polly want a cracker."
Would like to suggest ostrich as a faster mount than horse
(Since it is really faster than horse, this as a reference: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fastest_animals)
But they should be harder to control
Like carrot on a stick mechanic like pig - able to walk only in line of sight and only autojump, or perhaps, ostrich randomly striding into random directions while controlling(In a safe zone, of course)
Or maybe, player will eventually fall off the ostrich if the riding gauge turns to 0, and replenishing the gauge by carrot stick or other new items, maybe termites?
it would be cool if you can mount it
You can do many on it ride and breeding last and lay a big
you should be able to tame and ride an ostrich with seeds and a saddle, and be faster than anything else
Can you do a behavioural of ostrich that when they breed they will go into their nest and lay egg and it will take 5 to 6 minecraft days to hatch. Like turtle eggs? Pls?
Damn do I hate the "ostriches stick their head in the sand" trope.
They don't it's pure fiction. If you're gonna suggest it, at least make it have a function. Give them a reason to actually do so. It's just so incredibly dumb.
As someone who grew up next to a real ostrich farm— yes. The kicks of those birds are painful and boy are they fast! It would be interesting to have them as a fighting mount similar to how the traveling billagers can have the spitting llamas.
Ostriches don't actually stick their heads in the ground. It's just one of the many incorrect things kids learn from Looney Tunes about animals, like adult mice & cats are lactose intolerant & will get sick if they consume milk or cheese, & a bone is toy for a dog, not a type of food.
I have heard that ostriches are gamey but still edible barbecued.
Good job with the idea now its going to be in Minecraft
I think it would be better if you controlled the ostrich with a saddle instead of a carrot. I work part time at a zoo and eating a carrot can hurt an ostrich. Otherwise super cool idea!
We need to tame them
I think a better thing to add for Minecraft would be emus they are pretty much the same animal but there not as well known and that in my opinion would make it much more interesting
Have them go at insane speeds
I don’t agree with the instantly tame part, but good idea
Maybe you could make them passive so they are naturally fine if you are around but when agrovated maybe they could kick you?
I think ostriches, since they would be very fast, should have trust levels. Feed it some food, and it will not be skittish around you. More food, and you could mount, but not control it. Even more, and control it with a carrot on a stick, or maybe it sometimes moves where it wants to while you’re riding. The last level would make them fully rideable.
I would love these but it would be great if you could also ride them
I may be scared of ostriches but this sounds like fun
The sticking head in sand isn't a bad idea. I know its fake, but imagine seeing that. It would be bo0tiful.
And maybe they would only attack if you get too close to their egg? Perhaps the nests could be rare, and have a chest to loot underneath it. However, the chest will appear 40% of the time
And ride it with a saddle, just like a horse.
And pls no attack villagers
That would be lit and maybe even kangaroos
I agree but 3 hearts?
I kinda think this would be better but for me I think it’s AWESOME!!!!!
I think ostriches is a GREAT idea!
I think it’s would be cool not just to have ostriches in Minecraft but to tame them and ride them!
I think they should be faster than horses, but when you ride on them, they don't stop running unless you dismount. this would make it a faster, but more dangerous way of transportation than a horse.
