A new post came up that asked for water logged farmland. I immediately thought of this! Imagine that rice could only grow on waterlogged farmland! That would be a really nice addition to the game.
    There goes the link: https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/360054760871-Allow-farmlands-to-be-waterlogged

You could make a dirt half slab and put water on it to grow rice

I love this idea,  One thing I'd love to see as well is more ways to make compact blocks (like dried kelp).

Like the idea of rice itself. However, I think it would better with something like waterlogged farmland. Also, I don't see the need for a lot of new recipes but rather just 1. (how about pasta?)

Frrom a builders perspective though, I think stuff like this can give so mufh character to a world. You have my vote!

The ability to make sushi alone makes this worth it. But only if pufferfish sushi is an option.

Or add a mud or something block that gets waterlogged so you can grow it in a paddie?

I think this is a great idea. It really expands upon the currently limited farming/food aspects of the game. Maybe it should also only be able to grow in tilled soil adjacent to water?

rice plant drops 3 rice grain. 9 rice grain= uncooked rice. uncooked rice+water bucket = wet rice. cook wet rice in furnace to make rice

Reasons why this should be added:

+ Provides a good farm on environments that are normally not fit for planting crops like swamp (like literally you can just plant them in the water instead of  having to terraform the swamp).

+ Rice irl give more saturation than bread, so it can be the same in game (make it a food that gives more hunger, but takes a bit longer to eat)

+ Become a breeding food for a new mob (like water buffalo). The buffalo could be killed to get leather, meat and horn (which can be made into olifants, which have some uses).

+ Last but not least, it is associated with Asian culture, which I think deserve a shoutout.

Maybe they could be found in swamps, since they are found in water.

Cool addition if it could also mean biome specific trades, like maybe Jungle and Swamp farmers will trade for rice?
