Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Either Maki or Onigiri (which I would probably prefer because it would probably look cuter in-game compared to maki). Onigiri are those rice triangles filled with whatever and a strip of seaweed around them.

Also, Sake (i.e., alcoholic beverage made from fermenting rice) would be greeeat.

I love the idea for the rice growing in water as it adds a new mechanic the Minecraft! But I think you should find rice seeds in a pond structure instead of from grass

How would you get the rice?

I wholeheartedly support this. Wheat, corn, and rice are like the staple foods of the world. Rice could be used in so many ways. Rice should only grow if it is right next to or in water. the plant should only grow to be 1 block tall. Rice should be easily recognizable so that people don't confuse it with sea grass.

This could add so much variety and could easily be used in Minecraft builds like a sushi restaurant

now that theyve added mud blocks maybe you can grow rice only in mud blocks? i know that realistically the submerged planting idea is better but i think 2 blocks would be too tall for rice...

still would love to have a new type of crop ive always wanted that!!

I'm asian and we need this, no doubt about it. I have been waiting for any sort of way to make rice in minecraft, I will agree with this feedback.

In real life, I'm actually allergic to wheat (as well as most other foods in Minecraft), so adding rice would give some players an alternative to wheat. Maybe there could also be some rarer rice counterparts to wheat food, but they fill more hunger. For example, sushi could replace bread. I dunno, just an idea.

Rice could have other advantages, similarly to suspicious stew. One other thought I had was that rice could be grown on waterlogged farmland (using a bottle or bucket on farmland).

Are there no updates on this feature request? I strongly want items and blocks related to rice in Minecraft!

I regularly think about being able to have rice fields for builds for the aesthetics because I don’t always feel that wheat is the right fit! In general having a waterlogged crop that isn’t kelp, and a versatile cooking ingredient would be nice!

Minecraft lacks variaty in edible plants (visually pleasant), and water farm would be something awesome.

Preparing to cook rice should be unique. You know, for cultural representation ^^

    Here's my idea:

1.) Unhusk the rice, then fill a cauldron with rice
2.) Fill cauldron with rice with water
3.) I have two ideas on how to strain the water from the riced filled cauldron:
3a.) Place a sponge on top of rice filled cauldron to soak all water from cauldron; 3b.) Simply by normally taking the water by an empty bucket. (But the sponge mechanic is way cooler!)
4.) Place a campfire or fire under the cauldron. I assume the cooking time must be the same as something cooking in a furnace
    5. Et voila. Yummy yummy rice!

Or just use rice cooking instructions from rice sacks as inspo!

It would be interesting if it grew in water, only on dirt blocks and became a 2-block tall plant by its final growth stage. Maybe growth stages like wheat - 8 stages total? It could only be planted a maximum of one block deep, so that at its final stage it's growing outside of the water.

To add some rarity/challenge, you can only get the seeds from Farmer Villagers at Journeyman or Expert level trades, or rarely from the Wandering Trader.

It could have the added functionality of bees not affecting its growth stages, but if they are grown in an enclosed paddy you can put live Cod in there - just like in real-life Indonesian farming, the crop can increase in production by 10% due to Cod being used to both fertilize fields and function as pest control.

An extra or alternative recipe to the ones listed above could be Rice + Dried Kelp = Onigiri or Rice Ball

This is good, but there is no incentive to consume a variety of food.
