This makes total sense and with the new M1 chips able to run iPad and iPhone games on Mac, there is no point not adding it to Macs. At least ones with the M1 chip.

Microsoft being Microsoft. As far as I know, allowing people to install the iPhone/iPad version of Minecraft on their macs is now just up to a checkbox. Developers can choose to opt in or opt out of allowing it. Microsoft chose to opt out. Java is fine but Bedrock running natively would be so much better. If this is really about money, you guys aren't game developers, you're wealth developers. Such a shame. Allow mac users to run Bedrock. This thread is probably one of the highest voted and most ignored ones I've seen on this forum. I voted for this before Apple Silicon was even announced!

I chose linux because it was quite interesting to me, and i kinda felt upset that i couldn't play minecraft with my friends whom play on bedrock and linux doesnt have a minecraft bedrock port at the moment. So this can help me play with my friends. Thank You microsoft if you decide to add a linux port to bedrock.

My partner and I are on Windows 10 and macOS, and we'd like to play multiplayer in the office after hours. But she has to choose between Java Edition to play with me, or Bedrock edition to play with her friends on consoles! Plus I can't use the same Realms server to play on my Mac and PS4 etc.

I agree with the title, but I also agree with the other people saying that Java should not be removed. Its a nostalgic game beloved be many. Personally, I don't understand why they haven't add Bedrock to those platforms yet. There seems to be no issue with the programming language. So I don't know.

I'd love to use linux, but i dont because of minecraft. I payed R$100 ($18,98) and im not letting it go, maybe if you already owned the bedrock edition on windows you could log-in using that account

I like this idea a lot can we also get native support for the new generation on Macs? I think that would be great!

I too would love to have Bedrock Edition on macOS and Linux (the latter more so since the former can run the iOS version perfectly), but never at the expense of the Java Edition. Mojang employees would likely get death threats if they announced that they were canceling Java Edition outright.

I would love to see this happen Linux is a good operating system with fewer viruses and better privacy and it’s just better than windows in my opinion and it’s getting increasingly popular if it’s not much of a hassel for the Minecraft developers the Linux community would love to see a Minecraft bedrock for Linux.

I'm suspecting that this is on Microsoft, they never want to release games on Mac or Linux. Like when they bought Double Fine they axed the Mac version of Psychonauts 2.

But yes I would looooove Bedrock on Mac and Linux.

I joined Nintendo Family Online in December 2018 so my kids could play crossplay with their siblings on ipad and parents on PC. My desktop computers only run Linux so for 3 years I have relied on the generosity of volunteers to allow me to run an unofficial launcher to play with my kids on our family realm using my Google Play Android version. I own Minecraft Dungeons on Steam (runs perfectly on Linux) as well as a Nintendo version and the kids have completed that together and the DLCs. I see no good reason why Mojang shouldn't offer Minecraft Bedrock edition via a similar mechanism for Linux users. They already have done it with Dungeons. Your business units need to talk to each other.

I think it is time to commit guys. Minecraft is a huge money making machine but you can always screw us over for another platform licence. You know we will pay as we already did for mobile, Windows store and Switch. Mojang is going to be missing out on a few more dollars when the Steam Deck and similar devices hit the market. Embrace the greed. Give us the option to buy your game.

Would 100% be willing to re-buy the game if that was the only way Bedrock edition could come to macOS.

The funny thing is they have a bedrock server version that runs on Linux. That being the case it is seems odd that they dont offer a bedrock client on Linux. if they are going though the effort of supporting linux with a server version then i imagine doing so for a client would not be much harder.

Why is this still not a thing? It's so frustrating that Microsoft only cares about the money and wants to keep Bedrock exclusive to Windows.. Biggest mistake ever for Minecraft to be sold to Microsoft

Just leaving my +1...not that it'll matter since this highly requested feature has been open for almost 4 years. So much for being "multi-platform"

I'm adding my two cents by putting a +1. As a Linux user, I would love to be able to play the Bedrock version of Minecraft with my friends on a console!

We're a Windows/Android/Linux household, and between the three of us we've purchased at least 5 copies of the game. Weird that one if the machines is unable to join the others in multiplayer.

I find this especially weird since they created a bedrock build for iOS and iPadOS. The same build with tweaks to use keyboard and mouse input shouldn't be that terrible of an effort. In the early days of the M1 app store, you could sideload the mobile version and it played great.

I can only agree with porting Minecraft Bedrock to Mac and Linux but I wouldn't want it on the cost of Minecraft Java. They should be able to port it. It's not impossible. They still ported the game to some consoles. That's enough proof to say they should be able to do such a thing.

The MCPE launcher which our family have used to play minecraft on linux (using bought-for copies) is coming to an end, partly due to lack of developer time and renderdragon changes.  Maybe Mojang would consider an official Linux release (especially now that we welcome so many linux gamers through the steamdeck), or help the MCPE project to get past this issue.  As others have said it is not a technical hurdle, and I find minecraft on linux is the best experience of minecraft I've had to date (including vs java or Win10 bedrock).  Thank you!

I would love for the Bedrock edition to be available on Mac. I have played this game for as long as I can remember and I currently have a 2019 MacBook with intel. I think it would be a smart move to bring bedrock to the Mac as there are already roundabout ways of getting it on the Mac some of which I have even tried! These ways come at the expense of Mojang as you are losing out on money. Coming from someone who already owns every version of the game imaginable I would buy it again just to be able to play on my mac as it's currently the only computer I have that is strong enough to play it. I also understand that Minecraft is owned by Microsoft now and maybe this is a way of trying to make people buy a Windows device but most of the population would not switch a device just for one game. I really hope that this can become a reality as It would greatly benefit many people and improve the already great cross-platform play functionality!!

I really hope this is considered for Minecraft.

Minecraft Bedrock for GNU/Linux shouldn't cause big tecnical issues as the server side is already available for it and since Bedrock was born to bring cross-platform play it seems quite nonsense not having it available on all platform supported by Java.
I hope a day it will available through Flatpak, SNAP or a launcher if not directly by the repos of the distributions, and in MacOS already exist a fully working store, so it shouldn't be hard to deliver.

I'd really like to see Minecraft Bedrock expand onto Linux and MacOS. I don't think a port is impossible. They already managed to do that with a good amount of consoles. Also, it's already displayed in the launcher. It just needs to get support.

This would be a godsend for my Steam Deck. With it I could easily play crossplay minecraft with gyro and touchpads on the go.

I've been playing Java Minecraft on my Mac for years.  Until recently, I also played Bedrock Minecraft using Parallels and Windows.  THat's no longer possible with Apple Silicon Macs.  With all the versions of Minecraft out there, it seems impossible that Mac and Linux isn't supported.  There are great advantages to Bedrock and Java.  I like playing both.  Please port Bedrock to the Mac.
