Right now we’re missing gray planks, both light and dark. Maybe one has a dark gray bark, darker than acacia, and the other has a light, silvery bark. They would be great for mixing in with stone or for old, weathered builds.
Some options for gray barked trees:
Light gray bark:
-- Bald Cypress, a tree that thrives in wet areas such as the everglades. It could be a new addition to the swamp biome, perhaps it tends to grow in the water or very close to it.
-- Whitebark Pine loves high altitudes, so it could be added to any mountainous area.
-- Quaking Aspen thrives in sunlight and doesn't compete well with other trees, so it could be dotted in open areas or a new kind of forest.
Dark Gray Bark:
-- Black Poplar is a tree that stands alone and likes a wet environment, so it could be added as solitary trees on river banks or in swamps. It has fluffly, cottony seeds, and so perhaps could be a pacifist source of string. It could drop a cotton item that can be crafted into string, perhaps three along the bottom.
I welcome other tree suggestions, especially for the dark trees, as I had trouble finding good examples.
