What is parity? This category is designed just for features that exist but work one way on one platform, and another way on a different platform. Bugs are not parity! I love most Minecraft sounds, but I gave this my vote anyway because parity is always a good thing. As an aside, I want to sincerely thank you for all of the kind and constructive feedback you've given on my posts recently. It is much appreciated.

I tend to want to listen to my own thing, and every time I’ve tried turning on Minecraft sounds I’ve turned them off again right away because of the constant sounds like footsteps.  In a way I end up resenting any game that requires sound cues to play properly because I tend to find other aspects of the sounds incredibly annoying.  At least with Minecraft I can play on easy with decent armor and get away with being deaf in game.

And thank you for giving your feedback on mine, it’s why I went through yours.

AGREED! Also, I'm surprised this isn't already available for accessability reasons. I understand that screen real estate is a consideration, but an optional, scalable corner overlay should be available. I know several hearing impaired and non impaired gamers that would appreciate this (myself included).

I would also love this feature.  Its the biggest thing I miss about Java.

Not only for that but because we need it for HOH players. Right now hearing impaired players can't properly play on almost every single platform besides computers. I figured it'd just be a no-brainer but overall Bedrock accessibility settings are abysmal

This would be incredibly useful. I am almost deaf on my right ear and I find it a bit uncomfortable to use headphones. Using speakers sometimes I can't differenciate some sounds, but having those captions on the Java version is incredibly useful and it also helps me learn to differenciate them.

Bedrock currently fails at being accessible. This is a necessity.

We seriously need this for accessibility. I don't mind the minecraft default sounds they're fine. But I'm just a touch hard of hearing, it sucks being blown up by a creeper and having no way to know it was there. I prefer bedrock because I like playing with a controller, but Java handled this really well and I was so disappointed to see that it's not an option in bedrock.

Absolutely! The lack of subtitles makes my game play very difficult, I can't mine much because I can't hear the lava, water and mobs creeping up on me

C'mon Mojang, it's not cool that the Java version has them but not Bedrock. If Valve can put a priority on including closed captioning in their games for the last 15 years, I think it's not too much to turn up the parity dial just a little bit here and bring this accessibility feature to the many systems that support the Bedrock Edition. Please just add it to the engine and port over the text.

Got to be honest if it wasnt for my wife along side i wouldnt know some of the sounds that are happening. I looked to add captions but nothing on Bedrock. I find it interesting you have text to speech but seem to care little for those of us with hearing loss.

why is this still not implemented?

This is a disgraceful to the entire deaf/HoH community.  Minecraft is better than this.  Mojang is better than this.  Why has this gone on this long?

In touch UI, top right corner would suit the best perhaps?

Please add this! The captions in the Java version are so helpful for locating enemies especially for those who have hearing loss in one or both ears! I'm completely deaf in one ear so it's really difficult to tell where sound is coming from. I wish EVERY game had captions like the Java version of minecraft does. An arrow for direction and fading to convey distance is simple but genius!

Please, please, PLEASE add this if possible! I'm sure there are technical challenges for porting features from Java to Bedrock but with all of the accessibility work done for text to speech stuff, this one thing that makes Java minecraft such a joy to play would make such a difference to your deaf/hard of hearing Bedrock players! Please!

Yeah, this needs to be implemented. It was mentioned on the official bug tracker, but the only response was along the lines of “this parity issue was introduced before 1.15, so no :)” which appalled me. Definitely add subtitles to bedrock!

I definitely agree with this. This is a major parity issue. If Mojang can hear this, they will know that THIS. MUST. BE. PORTED. TO. BEDROCK!!!!!

YES! I have terrible hearing and I don't want to ruin it further by cranking up the volume. I use subtitles on Java edition all the time and they are a great help!

This needs more votes! This is more than just parity for parity's sake, this is a necessary accessibility tool for those that can't hear/hear well.

I am hard of hearing, I play Java edition because of the subtitles. I purchased Bedrock, then returned it to the store and refuse to play it further until captions are put in.

I have a hearing loss and can't hear creepers, skeletons, spiders or phantoms until they begin to attack me :( I don't have a gaming pc so I can only play bedrock edition on xbox - I wish Mojang cared more about accessibility. Not to mention that captioning also provides useful information to all players!

This should be just about parity, but about accessibility. Captions are needed to improve the experience for deaf and heard-of-hearing players.

Not to mention this feature was probably for deaf kids to play Minecraft. I would use it because it's a cool feature

I love MC, but I don’t love missing out on a significant part of what’s going on around me. I’m hard of hearing and am sad that captions aren’t available on bedrock. I’m sick of dying because I can’t hear mobs sneaking up on me.
