After just dying for the first time in the nether, going from 70 xp to 0, and respawning in a bed I hadn't used in over a year, please do add this feature. I cannot even find the village I was last at; this world came from Editions and had many, many hours sunk into it. I have been playing since the Xbox 360 version. I am ready to stop playing & delete the game it was so devastating. Why was 'disable autosave' taken away in the first place?- disgusted long time fan

I will be honest & state I am posting without reading other feedback. Anyone play Diablo 2? That had this item used as a currency for a while in trades; a Stone of Jordan. I succinctly recall being swindled and having my only SoJ swiped in a hustle with mechanics. I panicked and unplugged my computer, but the damage was done.

    Consequence.

My opinion, no, a save is a save. You cannot take back a click of a key, just as you cannot take back the stroke of a brush or blade.

To all the people saying that this shouldn't be in the game because "eXpLoitS r BaD! There's no consequences for dying and the game is PERFECT and should be treated like an MLG tournament where everyone plays hardcore! >:("

You know people on all platforms can copy their worlds right? Which is just a far more lengthy and annoying version of the manual save/disable autosave feature. So, unless they remove the world copying feature - people are capable of doing exactly what the devs don't want: exploiting, which is something people think that this feature alone is somehow going to make a serious problem.

Wait... exploiting is already built into the game? Oh no! It's almost like their game isn't so PERFECT after all! Maybe certain people (and maybe some of the devs as well) should stop treating this game like it's the second coming of god, and instead just add these requested features that people want!

Best part is: if you don't like it, then you don't have to use it! It's almost like if this was added, there would be nothing lost for anyone - only gain :)

Besides, don't we want a bigger playerbase? Minecraft is fun, right? Why not bring optional features like this to allow more people to play the game how they want? We all want Minecraft to get better, don't we? Sorry for the aggressive sounding comment, but can people please take into account the positives to a suggestion like this and how it will affect other players instead of assuming that Minecraft is a game only for them?

I  don't know why they got rid of it, but they obviously  got rid of it for a reason so if it is brought back it will most likely be labeled as a cheat because devs hate when people play their games in the way that they prefer.

Here we are in late 2020...and it is still this way! Guess they don't much care what the public wants. Maybe time to find a new sandbox.

I play on console and have excellent internet despite living in the middle of nowhere. The catch is that the electricity is super unstable in any kind of weather (wind, rain, snow, etc) and the power just went off not ten minutes ago and I lost my third world. I put over 20 hours into that world (not mentioning the hours out into the other two) and spent hundreds of levels crafting and enchanting diamond equipment. I even cured a village full of zombie villagers. Please fix this! I know the power issue isn’t Mojang/Minecraft’s problem but if auto save could be disabled and a save without exiting option were introduced it would be super helpful. This is really starting to put me off of the game!

I really don't care about exiting without saving even. The real reason why this needs to exist is because autosave screws with game performance and is the source of performance bugs and lag.

As many have pointed out, it's possible to get the same behavior by copying a world every time you want to save. This doesn't change mechanics it would just be better UI/UX

In addition, realms makes this easier by providing periodic backups of your world - essentially making copies for you. This is not exactly predictable, but it provides for something like this even without opting in to manual save.

So - not adding this option to local play makes it just something being sold for money.

That is something Microsoft and Mojang have every right to do, but we should call it like it is - to have this you need to subscribe.

I do want this locally and would love it if that were possible, but if this will remain realms only it might be more effective to advertise this as a paid only feature and close this suggestion.

This'd be great. I play on the Switch, and it is frustrating how often the game just suddenly does not process actions like opening the Crafting Table or looking at a chest, and has to wait for the autosave to finish before doing so. Worst case scenario, you die underwater in a place relatively near your base, dropping all your enchanted equipment and important items, and you can't even reach the place in time because everything is taking time to load. I haven't even taken on an Ocean Monument yet- I can only imagine the frustration if the Guardians start assaulting me and I can't place Honey Blocks for protection because of autosave.

This game 100% blows now. I played a lot about 6 or 7 years ago. I've recently tried playing again and it's a complete dumpster fire. The difficulty, especially early game, is just plain offensive. The save system is a giant middle finger and creepers have gone from being an odd annoyance to the absolute dumbest thing in any video game ever. I repurchased the game two days ago and have yet survive (on easy) longer than a couple days on any attempted playthrough.
Also, I am beyond sick and tired of all the 12 year olds puking their tired old catchphrase "get good" garbage at those of us who don't have 24 hours a day to dedicate to playing minecraft. I have a catchphrase for them "get some sun" or better yet "get helpful or get away from me"
There are multiple difficulties for a reason, if you found one you're conformable with - good for you. The rest of us are merely asking for more difficulty options to accommodate our playstyles and lifestyles. But mojang has made it clear that WE are not welcome on its game anymore. There is nothing to be found anywhere online to help. They have literally removed it all.
This used to be a game for everyone, now it's a game for one very specific kind of person. I would like my $$ back now, please.

The auto-save makes me not want to play, one misstep in the Nether and you're in a ocean of lava and days of mining and enchanting are lost.
This is a game and when I lose a high level character and equipment I stop playing, sometimes for months at a time.
That is the exact opposite of what a game should do, I should be able to make an error, revise my strategy and try again.
Auto-save discourages exploration and risk taking, the whole foundation of Minecraft.

THIS FEATURE IS BAD FOR BUSINESS.

We should have the option to choose, not have this forced upon us.

I just lost a world from 2017 or 2018 because the power cut out as it decided to save... I had named villagers after people in my life, a few dogs named after former family pets... A cleared out and refilled woodland mansion base, a wicked shipwreck-inspired airship, a ~30m obsidian sphere house. Blaze, iron, dungeon farms of every kind. Nether railway that went 1000s of blocks... Elytra... Was about to mine netherite.

All of that stuff disappeared like tears in the rain because I can’t tell Minecraft Bedrock when or how often to save. I’d settle for an interval greater than the “save progress every 3 minutes” mentality that the game seems to have. It’s literally, at most, every five minutes. I know because my game stutters when it happens on PS4...

I started a new world, but I’m going to have to give it another few months. Honestly, I’m going to need a battery backup system or an external drive before I get comfortable with anything again. This and pausing seem like such trivial, common sense additions that I have no other option than to think that you don’t care, or you think that we all have carefully maintained backups of all our save files.

I don’t play during thunderstorms because my console gets mad at me when the power goes out, but this happened without warning on a clear and cloudless night... If I could save as I wished, the chances of that happening would be greatly reduced. Like instead of risking it 12-16 times an hour, I could just risk it once.

Here’s a real story where this could’ve been useful:
So I was creating an avatar earth bending command in my command testing world. When I forgot to do “0 replace air” long story short it filled my faction shop that I had spent months on with stone. The shop is repaired, but I wish Minecraft had this feature so I could’ve saved my beloved creation from being destroyed.

The instant autosave when you die is so stupid, it's not fair. A spider knocked me into lava. i was trying to get to some deepslate, and a spider from behind me came out of nowhere and hit me into a pit of lava, please bring back exit without saving, the save button, and disable autosave, even when you die, it should not instantly save. I'm tired of losing everything, i will not play bedrock version of Minecraft any more, or even buy it for other consoles either if this is what I have to deal with. Please for the love of God do us this favor. It's stressful. And just so y'all know. I traveled very far to find deepslate, and lost everything I had, that was useful and valuable. I lost my only map which i NEEDED ALOT, i lost my only shulker boxes, i lost my only NETHERITE SWORD WITH ALL MAX ENCHANTS, ALL MY DIAMONDS, ALL MY FOOD, ALL MY IRON AND GOLD, ALL MY DIAMOND PICKAXES WITH USEFUL ENCHANTS, I LOST EVERYTHING, and I'm crying, and stressed, it's hard to enjoy Minecraft when it freaking instant saves when you die!

I cannot believe they haven't added this ability yet.  I have been playing Minecraft on my Xbox 360 for many years.  We set Autosave to a very long time so there would be little chance of an accidental save right after dying.  We religiously saved our progress whenever we did something important or found something good.  I just tried Minecraft (Bedrock Edition) on my Xbox One, and there is NO method to just save progress.  You can save and exit, which is annoying.  However, it seems to automatically save when you die.  So there is no way to save checkpoints and just restore the game if you die (outside of making backups of your worlds which is extremely cumbersome).  That is just INSANE!  How could they degrade the game so badly.  My son and I don't want to play because we will lose our progress and stuff anytime we die.  I have Minecraft Xbox One Edition, but it never got the Aquatic Update (at least it doesn't seem to have).  So I guess I'm going back to the Xbox 360 version.  I was hoping to use the Xbox One edition with 3 players split screen and having better performance.  How pathetic to take away such a simple thing from the game.  Just amazing they haven't addressed this.  Given this was requested years ago, I'm guessing they will NEVER add the ability to save progress and disable saving when you die.

I agree with OP about how it takes a long time to copy a world on bedrock edition, but I'd also like to add that on the Nintendo Switch Edition of the game, it becomes almost unplayable when autosaving- chunks render in much more slowly, blocks won't visually disappear until it's done saving, even if you've broken them and have them in your inventory, as well as the reverse with placing blocks.- Menus such as th crafting interface of setting will only show a loading screen till it's done autosaving, and with it happening so frequently, I spend less than half my time playing actually playing without these hindrances

yes i really need this in minecraft bedrock so i can force quit minecraft without saving my world and if you can not do this at least do this if we keep minecraft in recent apps minecraft loading screen appears and it takes a lot of time and sometime i was been killed my mobs too beacause game time doesn't stop i want to get rid of saving and i want to get rid of screen when you come back from recent apps to minecraft and background time and it also happens when i am saving my game time still runs in my world and sometimes it is night time and mobs kill me and i have a proof to keep something to cook and save your world and you and come back to your world you will see 4-5 items are already cooked

I'd like to say that there are a lot of things that make me want a way to disable autosave and exit without saving. One of the problems that I have is just sometimes when you are forced to face the consequences of every action is that sometimes that thing that the game autosaves after is something that really makes you not wanna play on a specific world anymore. We could use the example of wanting to save your first set of iron armor however, what if a creeper at some point comes and blows that armor up? should you be robbed of that keepsake even though it meant a lot to you? Personally I have faced situations like this and backing a world up is not at all convenient or even something that everyone knows how to do. What happens when you open up the world that you have been working on and someone decides to grief it? Not an entirely uncommon situation and yet if you forget to make sure to back your world up every time before something bad happens which does require leaving in some form the game. I really can't see any reason that this could not be implemented in with no problem to players who don't find it useful anyone who doesn't want to use it doesn't have to. Also I hate the statistics I don't have a problem with dying but being told exactly how many times can be disheartening this would also fix that with a fair punishment that I can make the choice between.

I need this as a feature due to my ps4’s old hardware. Maybe this is just me but whenever the game autosaves, my game just freezes practically rendering any contraption with multiple steps in its operation broken and makes the game nearly unplayable. Now I could get new hardware but I have my reasons why I don’t. This is a necessary feature unless they can fix auto saving lag.

Let me paint you a picture. A player joins your world that you have no backup of and you spent a while playing on. They start to grief the world, whether they use TNT, summon a bunch of mobs, or /fill with air everywhere. Or they used a hack like a nuker/autobuilder set to clear an area. They might even use a hacked npc to give themself creative. These are all things that I have experienced as a small server owner. Unplugging the server is the closest thing I have to exit without saving. Just today a hacker managed to break deny blocks. Its a normal minecraft world, how do you do that without op?

Ive been playing MC for many years and making my own playable RPG dungeon maps and since switching to the PC version of bedrock the lack of this feature has ruined every single map ive worked on. how can I test features if when I quit the game without saving it saves all the destruction? Incredibly demotivating. I dont play nearly as much as I would because every time I test something I have to completely rebuild it... I shouldnt have to backup my world every time i want to test something
