Every miner wants a treasure room. And no treasure room is complete without the following: silver, gold, diamonds, emeralds, amethyst, rubies, sapphires, topaz and pearls.
Keep the gems, amethyst, rubies, sapphires, topaz and emeralds below 16 and in 1 block size. Let the new ores, tin, copper, silver, fluctuate in height and block size.
Pearls should have been in the Aquatic update found in oysters. What can we do?
Obviously, there are many uses to these materials.
These materials can be used to make bronze armor, weapons, wands and jewelry.
Also, more importantly, the gems and metals can be put in redstone contraptions to enhance their capabilities. One idea is to have a gem block that can be spit out by a piston, as if it was given a 1 tick pulse. This can fix broken builds. Lots of fancy sensors can be made with rare materials if they have 1 special property. Don't make entire logic gates with them just one special property each.
Some may say we need to look at the infinite number of possible interaction that can occur when adding new blocks. However, if we did that we would never improve this game. Glitches are going to happen. Sadly these are these are the types of things that should have been added at the start. Mining for just a few ores is a little anemic. I thought the first part of the title was mine.
But texturing for crafted gem and diamond blocks should be more transparent with shadowing to give them shape as if they were cut.
