Shulkers should not take fire damage.

It doesn't make a lot of sense.

    Wait, does purpur burn? It would make sense if it did sense they are made out of popped chorus fruit. Though the shulker inside is made out of end stone.

    They should take fire damage when they open up but when closed I can see this happening.
