Ability to leash minecarts together like boats.

With the recent changes to leash mechanics, it feels like a no-brainer to add the ability to leash minecarts together like with boats and other mobs. This would be great for transit systems as it would allow players to only use one train of minecarts instead of many individual ones, preventing collusions that would send multiple in different directions. In java this would also make the minecart with furnace more reliable, as one would not need one on each end of a line of minecarts, instead only needing one. In niche systems, this could also reduce the ammount of powered rails required to have multiple parralel tracks, as one could chain the parralel minecarts to one another.

    This is a great idea! Leashing minecarts together would make transit systems much simpler and more reliable, especially for long lines or furnace-powered carts. It could really reduce the need for extra powered rails too.

    I dont know where to go to submit a minecraft suggestion so ill do it here, I have an amazing flatland with hundreds of builds, a large volcano, castles, etc. I would love to be able to switch it back to a normal world with hills, rivers, villages, etc. Without deleting any of my already made builds. That world ohh idk how long I have been playing on it, off and on for 5+ years.

    So i feel like it would be better if it was a separate item but still multiplayer trains would be so fun
    the create mod has the minecart coupling so like that

    Mojang, this is one of the MANY things you should do to fix transport. Minecarts are already one of the worst method to travel, it requires lots of set up and is still worst when compared.

    If we can link up Minecarts with chains, I can bring myself and my items behind me, this can be the main way to transport HUGE HUGE amount of items at once. Having to go back and forth is really annoying even with an elytra.

    And it makes minecarts look EXTREMELY COOL to many train lovers.

    Indeed, in general, minecarts need an update which adds value to them and make the time and resources invested in them pay off in gameplay.

    Just linking minecarts and updating the furnace minecart into a mini train (furnace minecart + water bucket + lever) would do wonders to the whole system.

    Honestly this could be a good feature for making roller coasters!!! And using it for a good transport also good for creating trains that connect!!!

    I'm seeing everyone say how using chains would work better, but if a minecart goes around a corner, then it would look really weird and buggy for the chains. A solution, to add on to this post, would be a 2x2 turn with rails, which would be less sharp and hopefully fix this problem. They could even use copper rails for this.

    Honestly just give  chains a use instead of leashes. (also I really like making little boat trains)

    This would also be useful for builds that use leads for decoration because you wouldn't have to go through the effort of imprisoning a chicken in a box lol.
