I’d like to suggest adding an item component support depending on the player's current gamemode.
For example, I wanted to create custom textures for Suspicious Stew depending on its effect. While that is currently possible, the problem is that the texture appears regardless of whether the player is in Survival or Creative mode. This essentially reveals the effect of the stew no matter what, which undermines the design intent of Suspicious Stew—that its effect is meant to be unknown until consumed.
As of snapshot 25w16a, I’m not sure if it’s possible to apply custom textures only under specific gamemodes (without use of any commands or datapacks), but I believe this feature would be extremely useful for mapmakers and resource pack creators.
Use Case Example:
-
When in Creative or Spectator, a custom texture shows based on the stew's effect
-
When in Survival or Adventure, the default vanilla texture is used, keeping the effect unknown to the player.
