Beach Update: Palm Trees, Seagulls, and Hermit Crabs

 

Palm trees grow on beaches with curved trunks and wide leaves. Coconuts grow on their trunks, fall naturally, and are edible (like melon). Shells and starfish can appear decoratively on the sand.

 

Seagulls spawn near nests on palm trees. Nests may contain eggs that hatch chicks (like chickens). When fed 3 fish, the seagull flies to the nearest buried treasure spot and emits sounds while standing on it.

 

Hermit crabs spawn on beaches (not mangroves) and wear shells. They may spawn with a nautilus shell but prefer common shells and will swap if one is nearby, like mobs that equip armor. When killed, they can drop their shell. These mobs bring life and behavior variety to beaches.

    There was a crab in the mob vote last year, but the armadillos won... A crab would totally fit into minecraft. Would there be more types of shells, then? What would they be used for?

    I think it would be best for palm trees to grow in both Beaches and Deserts / Oasis and that depending on the climate / temperature to determine the fruit developed. If in a tropical climate like a beach, warm ocean, or jungle then the palm tree will develop coconuts; if in an arid climate like a desert or oasis then the palm tree will develop dates. It would certainly make them the most unique tree, not only does it develop fruit but the fruit developed is dependent on the climate where the tree was grown rather than where leaves / trunks are placed.

    Almost every biome has something in it except the beaches (and snowy ones).

    Ответ пользователю, который интересуется, для чего можно было бы использовать панцири (ракушки). Из них можно делать разные виды брони для питомцев. У человека материалы для брони - кожа, железо, алмазы и прочее, а у питомцев - броня из панцирей броненосца, из панцирей крабов, а из ракушек отшельников можно было бы делать шлемы :D

    I think it would be cool, and the copper golem is coming back, so maybe the crab will to.

    And seagulls would be the annoying bird that takes shiny things and you would have to shoot them with a arrow to get the stuff back.

    yeah what if there’s a bunch of cool shells and like each specific one can make a potion or something…or you can also just decorate them. Maybe a specific tool could be used to pick them up? like they could make a net for all those “soft” fragile items?
