I do a lot of custom map making, and I'm troubled by one thing - when given a potion effect that lasts infinitely long, creepers will explode and leave behind a lingering potion that also lasts infinitely long.
If, for instance, I wanted a special creeper to spawn that had infinite length regeneration, if exploded, it would allow someone to gain infinite length regeneration. This really limits my options, and essentially means that I cannot give potion effects to Creepers in many cases unless I for some reason want a player to gain an infinite potion effect in the worst case scenario (creeper blows up).
I propose adding a tag, preferably in the active effects section, that determines if an effect is dropped on explosion. Perhaps it could be used for explosive mobs that may come in the future, or to the Wither's spawn explosion, or applies in a special way to a Ghast's fireball as well.
Tying it to the effect and not the mob also allows for a lot of flexibility. Perhaps a creeper has infinite length resistance and doesn't drop a cloud of it, but does drop an infinite length poison cloud, so that if you get caught in it, you're poisoned until you find some milk.
Maybe, even, another tag determines whether a mob is just "carrying" an effect or theyre also affected by it - I can imagine creepers with Instant Damage not immediately dying but instead dropping a very deathly cloud of the stuff when they explode.
