I think the WHOLE texture is too high definition and detailed. It doesn't fit in.

    Yes.32x32 looks out of place.

The texture of the happy ghast itself is also too detailed. It should have the "Giant Pixels" we see on the original Ghast

Completely agreed, and also the happy ghast texture itself too!

100% this needs to happen. I also think that the same should happen for the harness when it is on the ghast. Specifically the carpet of the harness needs to have the detailed creases removed.

some guy apparently made the happy ghast texture but in the resolution of the original ghast on reddit. no reason not to put it in the game.

Looking at the images of the happy ghast it does not seem like it's perfectly scaled to the amount of pixelation a block would have. It's hard to tell, but if I had to guess the happy ghast's main body is 32x32 pixels. The original ghast's main body is 16x16 pixels, which is the same as a block. Given the ghast is 4 blocks tall and wide, having the same pixelation as 1 block just doesn't make sense. Most other mobs, like the zombie, spider, and breeze are all textured in scale with block pixelation. Some of textures of larger mobs such as the whither and guardian are not perfectly scaled. However, these mobs seem to be just slightly scaled up and recolored versions of their smaller counterparts. The ghast has no such excuse and at this point in Minecraft's journey it just looks a little dated.

All that being said, I personally think the new texture looks quite good. It gives the ghast a polished and updated look while keeping the features of the old texture. I have tried out resource packs in the past that make all mob textures pixel accurate and it was quite easy to get used to. I think the community just needs to give the happy ghast some time.

BTW, I realize that the original post singles out the harness. However, my argument still stands. The scaling is justified given the sheer size of the mob.

Additionally, for the ghast to be pixel accurate it would need to be 64x64. That would verge on actually being too detailed, so I think the designers hit a good mark with 32x32.
