Armadillo Bat

I built an ice rink and set up goals and put an armadillo in since they roll up into balls. I really want to be able to play hockey/soccer with the armadillos but there is no way to push the armadillos at a speed that makes sense. The only way currently is to walk into them to nudge them around, or to use a piston which clearly is not practical for a game setting. I am hoping there can be an item or some option made available to whack the armadillos (safely, I don't want to hurt them) so they can slide around on the ice. We can make a lot of games even in the vanilla worlds with the armadillos if this is made possible.
